GOSPELICIOUS---ANOTHER TASTE

Gospelicious
Taste and See the Lord is good!
How does one heightened their taste buds for the gospel message?
Opening her/his Bible might be first step! One word. One verse. One chapter. Whet your appetite for truth.
For example, entering a candy shop for the first time, one might be overwhelmed at all the choices and appreciate the opportunity to have a taste before deciding what to choose.

For me, I started today in Psalm 34:1. I was "all in" with the very first verse.
It's important to bless the LORD at all times. The whole number of nouns.  Circumstances. (New job or laid off)  Events. (Births to funerals) Healthy or sick. Weary or energized.
At least each truth has merit for understanding the Christian life.

(v. 4) The LORD delivers from all my fear.

A meager beginning---think small taste---but I already see that God is good! (v.8)

A delicious taste of truth! Gospelicious!

WISDOM PSALMS!

Psalms of Wisdom or Wisdom Psalms---during my season of medical maladies, this book of the Bible is where I have camped out! The rockier the path of "life" became, the more I turned to wisdom found there! The perfect law of the LORD refreshes the soul and makes wise the simple.
(Psalm 19:7, DAL, PPP)
Psalmists often looked to God for insight.(Psalms 1,73, 91,119)
For me, Psalm 1, 3, 16, 25, 27, 34, 37, 90 & 121, are at the top of my "wisdom" list as I have reflected on God's word.
Think..... Considered. Focused. Meditated.
Psalms Personally Paraphrased. (PPP)
  • Blessed...delight in the law of the Lord & meditate day and night. (1)
  • You Lord are my shield, glory & lifter of my head. (3)
  • You make known to me the path of life. (16)
  • I lift my soul to God in whom I trust (25) I take refuge in you, for I wait for you.(25)
  • Be strong, let heart take courage; wait for the LORD! (27)
  • His praise will continue from my mouth (Psalm 34) Blessed take refuge in Him. (34)
  • Delight yourself in the LORD, (37) Commit your way to the LORD;trust in Him and He will act. (37) Be still before the LORD ...wait patiently for Him. (37)
  • Teach us to number our days to get a heart of wisdom (90)
  • My help comes from the LORD who is my keeper.(121)
True wisdom is followed by alignment with one's actions based on truths found on each path/circumstance with Him, rocky or not
A path of life walked in humility. AMEN!

SATURDAY SURPRISE!

Picnic in close-by Great Smoky Mountains National Park away from the weekend throngs.
A table all to ourselves with a tasty lunch I did not have to prepare!

Sharing Scripture --from a fave......Psalm 34. Glorifying the Lord and exalting His name together as chum WH had inspired us to do earlier this morn. Our focus was on verse 4 as I am seeking to "live" without fear with hubby's ongoing support.
We stopped by a floral wonderland in our "kin" BB & Poppy's yard! I took over 9 pix for my Seek collection!
Her cosmos grabbed my heart!
The BIG surprise was when hubby produced some Lowes' reward money and took me there to stock up on their "on-sale" flowers --total = $4.28! WOW! Some to share with neighbors who have continued to bless us and "keep me in the pink" day after day!

Surprise! Surprise!! We "ran-in" to (crossed paths with, not an accident) our daughter and son-in-law while gassing up to head home!
I thank we had moment after moment of tasting and seeing that God is good! (Psalm 34:8)

Maybe a better title for this entry would be a plural!
Saturday Surprises!!

STOP! SMELL THE ROSES!

Smell the roses---
???What if there aren't any roses?
Choose any flower.

What if there are't any flowers?

Skip rocks in a creek!
What if the creek is too shallow??
Take your shoes off and stick your toes in the cold water!
Why?
Because it is good to give thanks to the Lord. (Psalm 9:1)
He will enable you to "sing for joy." (Psalm 92:4, emphasis mine)

Quit making excuses! Be grateful. Pappy Young thought gratitude was
like duct tape ......there was no problem it couldn't fix.

Choose joy!
When you've grown weary, remember the One who is your joy.
STOP! Lean into Him! Allow Him to gratify and satisfy.

Who knows, you might even get a whiff of roses from afar!

SERVICES OF WORSHIP FOR QUEEN ELIZABETH II

From singing of phrases of scripture and the "Twenty Third Psalm" to family and attendees reciting together The Lord's Prayer, her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was laid to rest honoring the One True Majestic King, her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Truly services of WORSHIP!

"Love Divine All Love Excelling" at her funeral along with "All my Hope of God is Founded" at her committal service left no doubt of this stalwart's Christian's faith!
Though the Queen's piper played a lament, there was no lamenting.
There is rejoicing in heaven for one who knows the Triune God; the One who is the  Alpha and Omega with whom she will spend eternity!

SABBATH SNAPSHOTS: HOPE

12/2/12 Have spent much time in prayer lately for folks who are in hard places. From the end of Psalm 33 and on into Psalm 34, I have found "hope" in the scriptures----because "the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.....
Even book-lovin' folks in Memphis can donate to  give hope to a  bookstore in Brooklyn NY. that lost its  entire inventory in Hurricane Sandy. Thanks to Booksellers for spearheading that effort!

Purple is such a royal color---perfect reminder of the "King" who was born.
Even among the dangling wires that pump those chemo drugs into needy bodies, there was hope---right there in the middle of the clinic for all to see!
A great "decoration of hope"
We wait in hope for the Lord;
he is our help and our shield.
In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
even as we put our hope in you. (Psalm 33:20-22)
