ANGELS IN SCRIPTURE!

“The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them” (Psalm 34:7).

God also sends angels to bring His messages to guide us in our own ministry (Acts 8:26).

This season is a great time to "Hark" godly truth to others.
  • Jesus is the true way. (John 14:6)
  • Jesus is the only way.
  • Nothing will be impossible with God. (Luke 1:37)
Angels are examples of mighty servants of God who do His word." (Psalm 103:20)
Thank you Lord for these powerful messengers! May we follow suit.

ROAD TO NOWHERE!

A muddled mind can be a side-effect of a stroke. An occipital lobe stroke can increase the muddlng. Factor in amyloid build up....you get the "up, up, up idea. Weariness looms. To muster my energy, hubby tries to encourage movement.
Yesterday, he said we could find the "Road to Nowhere" for a 20 minute walk.
We found the sign............
...but that's all we found!
There was a locked gate across the road. No parking area was anywhere close. It seemed, as the sign said, a broken promise f sorts for my walk.
As Son, J said, "It seems the road took you nowhere." I did not laugh.
Maybe my mind was too muddled/concerned about backing down the narrow hill.
I'm sure there are more life lessons in these events "somewhere"----Yesterday, my mental condition was too confused a state to figure them out.
But today, Jesus, the One who is "the way," can refer to pathways of life or the journey we are on as we choose to trust Him, as we "walk" even when our mind is mixed-up!

WORDSMITH WEDNESDAY--APOSTROPHE

SO MANY PUNCTUATION MARKS....many like the comma are often over used. Apostrophes, ( ' )  not so much. Apostrophes can be used as possession singularly or without having to use a double or triple "s" . For me, the apostrophe is a much used punctuation mark indicating omission of numbers (ie, '21) or letters.  Y'all, the main second-personal plural pronoun in Southern American English, is a big part of my writing----. Even Siri understands my usage.
Remember apostrophes go between letters. They are not diacritical markings which go above letters to aid in pronunciation.
Lysa TerKhurst, (seeing beautiful again, p. 28) introduced me to the "possibility" of seeing the word impossible in a whole new way! (Think a creative contraction which totally changes a meaning by just adding an ' after I.) Follow those first two letters with a pertinent space and you can go from impossible to I'm possible.   I'm possible
Don't you love it.
God is the Great I AM.....(Isaiah 41:10, Psalm 32:7, Psalm 73:23, Psalm 146:6, John 14:6)
He is my possibility  for hope and healing....a much more comforting way to look at anything that feels quite impossible!

FAITHFUL FAREWELL

A final farewell full of faith. Such was the funeral of UK's Prince Philip.
From the hymns of truth to the scripture passages from John, Colossians and James, along with the Lord's prayer, all glory was given numerous times to the Lord Jesus Christ!
A funeral full of faith for many to hear. My prayer was just that, "Lord give them ears to hear gospel truth and understand that Jesus is the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me"
And all the faithful said, 'Amen" albeit behind their masks.

CHOOSE: THE WAY

Biblically, "the Way" was the Acts 9:2 description of a group of people. Believers of Jesus Christ.
Psalm 32:8 shows the "way" as a direction. "I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go....."

The gospel of John describes "The Way" as a person. "Jesus said to him, I am the Way, and the Truth and the Life...." (John 14:6, w/ my capitalization emphasis)

For me, all of the above are the right way to choose.

CHOOSE: THE WAY

Choosing the Way of the Cross in last week's VBS was a way for children to begin to understand the One who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. (John 14:6)
Focusing on the "way" means to choose to do what God's word tells us to do or say. Following His way is easier when one understands, God loves us, God is for us and God is always with us.
Be kind. (Ephesians 4:32) Just two simple words---easy to say but sometimes hard for little ones to remember to do, especially to siblings. It's hard for all of us to choose the right way at certain times.
It's easier to choose the "right" way when our focus is on the cross----a great reminder for adults created by the hands of young children.

CHOOSE: TRUTH

Truth is defined by Merriam-Webster as "sincerity in action, character and utterance."
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life...." (John 14:6)

Jesus is truth and His word is Truth. "The sum of your word is truth,..."(Psalm 119:160)
Too often when people voice their own opinions, in morals or even the politics of government, the world loses its basis for absolutes and thus truth, as we have known it, has become irrelevant.
It's as if the world no longer sees God's sovereignty or His power at work.
He is risen---that's an absolute truth. Truth to count on!
Happenstance or coincidence or stars aligning are a few of our culture's reigning philosophies.
CO-incidence (CO=Christ Ordained) is my preferred view.
Coincidence is a messenger sent by Truth. (Jacqueline Winspear, author) I appreciate that Ms Winspear capitalized truth in her latest book.
As a manner of honor, one man owes it to another to manifest the truth. (T. Aquinas)
One who chooses truth chooses life and that life is manifested as one walks in truth and speaks truth.(Psalm 15:2)
So...to "CHOOSE TRUTH" seems like a "no-brainer" to me.

T.R.U.T.H.

These days there are many definitions for the word truth. People tend to hide truth or bend truth to suit their own needs. (Think more opinion than truth or possibly void of real truth) Most Urban Dictionary definitions of truth were profane, including lewd words for bodily functions or vodka injections, except for one contributor, Matt-the-Jesus-Follower. Truth stares us in the face but we look away, terrified to make eye contact with something that judges our actions and lives.

Vines' Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words offered the Greek, αλήθεια, using truth objectively as a noun. A noun which signifies the reality lying at the basis of an appearance; the manifested, veritable essence of matter. What you see on the outside is a true reflection of it's basis.

The truth of God is the reality of who He is---whose existence is a verity.

So.....as I prepare to teach truth, I need to simplify and just go back to Him, the One who is Truth, to supply the understanding I need. (John 14:6)
As it is written in the law of Moses, all this calamity has come on us; yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our iniquity and giving attention to Your truth. (Daniel 9:13)
T.R.U.T.H. My simple definition,
a pithy acronym that suits me.

"Diversi-TEA" : A Refreshing Cuppa

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. (Revelation 7:9, NIV)
Overwhelmed with emotion. That's how many of us felt at yesterday's mission conference service. Praising and singing "How Great Thou Art" together, in many different languages, to the One True God.
Vietnamese voices, African voices, and for the first time the me'phaa translation from our Tlapanaco Indian friends from Mexico.
Oh Lord, my God
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works
Thy hands have made
I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout
The universe displayed.
Then sings my soul
My Saviour, God, to Thee
How great thou Art
How great thou Art
I am the Way (El Camino), the Truth (La Verdad), and the Life (La Vida) (John 14:6)

"The way will lead you home. The life will make you whole. The truth will set you free, will set you free." (Ron Man, 1993)

Uni-TEA of belief poured forth with tuneful diversi-TEA!

"vitali-TEA" : a Re-Brew

....I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life.....(Deuteronomy 30:19-20, NIV)

With so many "tea" and life choices available these days, I need to choose vitali-TEA. It is vital for both my children (with grands) and me to choose life with Him.
So many choices in our world today.
True vitality comes from listening to and holding fast to the One who is Life, the Lord our God. (John 14:6)

True Meditation

11/19/12 Returning from the mission trip to India, Hickman E. said that MANY in India worship in spirit but NOT in truth. There are many gods, hundreds, if not thousands, of personal gods in the faiths of Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Islam, etc. The sacred cow came to my mind.
Christianity calls one to worship One True God and to worship in "Spirit and in Truth."
For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth."(John 4:24)

So how does one find truth. John 14: 6 gives that answer.
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Meditate on that "truth."

Sermon Summary

8/14/11 “when life hurts most……” What a sermon topic for needy folks. What do you do when life throws you a curve? Where do you turn when bombarded with BIG troubles? How do you navigate life’s journey when the bumps in the road are minor compared to the pothole that has just pulled you under. Death of a child. Infidelity. Cancer diagnosis. Chronic illness.
Pastor Bob Cherry of Northeast Christian Church addressed these issues because he and his wife had just been delivered one of those “bombs.” Breast cancer. Surgery needed. Surgery completed. Prognosis unclear until week after surgery.
Throughout the last month he and his wife spent their annual time together and apart in FL seeking the Lord. This year there was a new development that threatened to cloud this normally time set aside for family and church goals. Only a few faithful prayer warriors knew the angst/fear/concern that they carried with them to the shore.
Where does a pastor turn when the BIG trouble comes? After tears, prayers, praise music, searching scripture and a CD from a fellow pastor’s sermon, he was clearly reminded to turn to the cross.
In John 16:33 Jesus’ words spoke clearly of the truth that in this world one WILL have tribulation. Trouble comes to all. But that’s not the end of the story.
These things I have spoken to you that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
Those things Jesus had already taught in previous John chapters would lead to peace through Him. Abiding/remaining in Him. (John 15: 5) His love. (John 15: 9-13) Truth of eternity (John 14:1-4) Way to eternity. (John 14:6)
In times of BIG trouble, one needs the reminder of how much God loves us and how he can use the worst for eternal good as He gives peace along the way to those who reamin in Him.

W=WAY

2/8/10 Did you notice all the “W” titles in my blog this week? Weeping over sin, walking for wrong reasons, weighty challenges in life, and worries of this world. Did you notice that the resolution to all those problems were from one Source? The way to the answer of all of life’s questions is through the One who is The Way. (John 14:6)
The only way to the Father in Heaven is through the ONE who is the Way!
He is the way of wisdom. His ways are just, holy and perfect. His way led the Israelites through the mighty waters though His footprints were never physically seen. This is the way, walk ye in it. (Isaiah 30:21) Commit your way to Him…(Psalm 37:5) He is The Way---so it makes sense to walk in His ways.
  • He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful god who does no wrong, upright and just is he. (Deuteronomy 32: 4)
  • Your ways O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God? (Psalm 77:13)
  • The Lord is righteous in all His ways and loving toward all He has made. (Psalm 145:17)
  • As for God, His way is perfect;.….(2 Samuel 22:31)

Choose each day to walk in the ways of The Way.
