SUNSETS EXTRAORDINAIRE!

Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes
May I continue to worship His holy name.

Thank you Lord for neighbors who share sunsets on our ridge in the mountains, a son who shares a sunset in Honolulu, Hawaii and our daughter who shares sunsets at a beach in Florida..

All are examples of God's amazing creation.
Pink and orange sky sunsets in continental US & a serene sunset in Hawaii!
May we all continue to experience the awe of sunsets with praise in our hearts.

I will bless the LORD at all times:His praise will continually be in my mouth. (Psalm 34:1)
*Grandson Jack alerted her, "Look Mommy the sky is turning pink & orange!"
When she got to the steps to take a pic, a youngster was standing there exclaiming, "Look what Jesus Made!" Her affirming reply, "Indeed He did!!" had the little fella smiling from ear to ear!

OUT OF THE MOUTH OF BABES!

Of all my blog entries through the years, this is right at the top of the list for blessing a grandmother's heart.
"Keep your heart with all vigilance for from it flow the springs of life." (Proverbs 4:23)
Think words....prayerful words from a first-grader.

Just click below to see & hear.....

......a prayer that shares a first-grader's version of John 3:16 to be heaven-bound, and thankful for dinosaurs, parents and his sibling as he hopes God has a good week.

His words greatly blessed my heart; I hope they blessed yours.

*Thx to John McCormick of reminding me "out of the mouth of babes" label..

JOY! JOY!! JOY!!!

From Hurting Heart to Healing Head!
"My" Molly continues to remind me to find joy at every turn by making sure the joy of life is always in view, even when I'm weary. She has even researched ways for the brain to stay "healthier" longer!

Medical Day has worn me out. But God has given me more to share.....soon!

52 YEARS......and COUNTING!

It's been a red letter day----at least a red rose day.! A day of celebration and congratulations from family and friends as we've accepted emails, cards, texts and lawn surprises!
The first surprise was "arranged" by our youngest grandson. He was very quiet as he went about his setup, per his mommy's directions!
Listen for his whispering!
After he "SURPRISED" me, he ran over with the real roses---which fell out upside down as he approached.
His roses mixed with a dozen from his PopPop's make a beautiful centerpiece of love....52 years worth!.

BABY TURNS 42

How can it be? Our #3!
Our baby girl, after boys 1 & 2--- turned 42 today!
Pre-ultrasound days, we assumed another boy & called her Benjamin for 81/2 months.... she came early as did both her brothers!
Unplanned---but God's gift! (Psalm 127:3)
During delivery, her daddy who had taught health classes at UM, fainted and slid down the delivery room wall.
My how time has flown by......and fashion has changed.
.Birthday treats have changed as well----from numeral-shaped Rice Krispie Treats to tonight's treat, a Plain Jane birthday cake from Muddy's!!

BTW, her Molly dress was an answer to her prayer. She told me she wanted a "Molly" dress. I hadn't a clue what she meant but I suggested she ask God. Lo and behold, a few days later,  Gwen Ennis showed up at our front door with, not one but two, dresses monogrammed with her name. Quite a memorable answer to Molly's prayer!

*Post time for this entry was the exact time of her birth---9:49 pm!

GRACIOUS GOODNESS

8/30/09 Goodness gracious sakes alive, I think I’ve taken so long to get through the fruit of the Spirit that many have forgotten why I am writing about these traits. That is one of many sayings that I learned at the feet of my grandmother, Margaret Louise (Mama) Davenport---a lady of gracious goodness. You see, like UCLA coach, John Wooden, that was as close to profanity that she ever got--- ''My goodness gracious!'' just a grandmotherly trademark, of sorts.

I also learned, “What in the Sam Hill?” from her. That was her other equivalent of cussin’ though I’m sure she had no idea that it was a euphemism for “what the devil.” She just heard Jimmy Stewart use it in What a Wonderful Life, that classic black and white TV show we watched every Christmas for as long as I can remember. She was too full of goodness to have even known how to “put on” swearing or as Galatians 5:20 labels it, discord (NIV) or outbursts of anger. (NASB) In her Spirit led life she “put off” all those vices.

Galatians 5:19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these,….

Mama Davenport gave no space in her life to "things like these." She “put on” the Fruit of the Spirit day in and day out as no one else I have ever known.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control….

Reminder: Theses qualities (plural noun form ) are a part of the Fruit of the Spirit. Fruit is singular---it’s all of these qualities together that make up the single picture that reflects the Christian life/walk. What does your picture look like? What are you reflecting to the world? I remember Mama’s goodness because God’s goodness was so evident in her life. How will someone remember you? Will His goodness shine through”

Suffice it to say, just as many of us learned gracious goodness (all those manners we were taught to “put on”) at the feet of our parents and grandparents, we will learn of His goodness as we sit at His feet.
