WAIT---WEIGHT another "spiritual" grammar lesson

Homophones, a type of homonym, sound the same but differ in meaning and spelling.

Jenni W's lessons on "Praying in the Waiting Room" spoke volumes to me as I began to understand the importance of a "shift in thinking."

Waiting rooms mostly have a bad connotation, unless it's an OB floor where loved ones are awaiting a new little "bundle of joy." Yet, there is a sweetness that comes from lessons learned in God's waiting room. I am grateful for the spiritual aspect of these grammar lessons the Lord has for me. 

Wait to weight was an important "homophone" lesson for me. A lesson in shifting. Shifting my weight to His strength. Waiting can be burdensome. Hard to carry alone.

As I wait on the Lord, I need to shift my weight as I lean on Him. Leaning on anything else---my own understanding or planning, draws me away from God. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Shifting---A lesson of rest for my soul and rest for my restless mind. (Matthew 11:28-30) 

Trusting in anything apart from God has me in my own stead.....and I am no substitute for God!

Give Him the weight of your (my) burdens as we (I) wait for answers.

5/20/13 Remember the "Bare Necessities" song from the 60s? 

The tune randomly came into my head as I drove home from Mary Flo's today where we had been discussing "simplici-TEA and humili-TEA." In my head Louis Armstrong was singing but I don't know if he was the one who sang it in "The Jungle Book." Regardless, those lyrics had me thinking about choosing today's verse for meditation  from ones that are "neccessities" in my pursuit of simplici-TEA study.

Look for the bare necessities The simple bare necessities Forget about your worries and your strife I mean the bare necessities Old Mother Nature's (Our Lord's own) recipes That brings the bare necessities of life

My "simply necessary" choice for today:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

The Lord's recipe for simplicity is located right between the cover of the Bible, His recipe book for life. It's simply a necessity.

accorDANCE

6/11/11 Assume the postion for accorDANCE---if you want a 3 word answer to most of life's questions, that is! The answers to the questions that matter in life are not, do this or don't do that. Rather, according to Oswald Chambers, the answer lies in 3 words, 'Come unto Me.' (Matthew 11:28) "If I (you) will come to Jesus, my (your) actual life will be brought into my real desires.........and actually find the song of the Lord" (My Utmost for His Highest 6/11 entry)

My way of thinking about that is----if I align my will with His will, His desires will become my desires. In this dance of life, if I want to be lead by the spirit of life, I need to learn the "new" steps of "accorDANCE!

Now it's your turn to think on the implications of that verse in your own life.

ONUS…….

5/24/10….is synonymous with responsibility, burden, obligation and duty. These synonyms/words whir in my head---when I blame myself as I succumb once again to the tyranny of the urgent. I tend to take all responsibilities seriously, even if they aren’t solely mine.

Bearing an onus for the wrong reasons----like seeking recognition or for the approval of others---is self-inflicted misery. There will never be enough rewards or pats on the back to endure that kind of burden. It’s just wearisome. Bearing an onus alone is cumbersome and tiresome as well.

When the onus….is “on us”---just us, it’s a burden indeed. The “good news” is, just that, good news. Scripture tells us that we have a burden bearer. We can come to Him daily with our burdens of concern. We just have to approach Him and allow Him to bear our burdens. Then He gives us rest. What an exchange! As we then take His yoke that is “lined with love,” (Matthew Henry) we find ease and deliverance from, the often fruitless, cares/burdens of the world.

Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. (Matthew 11:28)
