Sagaci-TEA and Serendipi-TEA : a perfect blend

My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion; (Proverbs 3:21, NIV)
According to YourDictionary.com, sagacity is the quality of being wise or having good judgment.
Serendipity is an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident---or as I call them God-incidences. The unexpected beneficial moments of life.
God's Word is THE book for wisdom in living. Its truths are sound judgments needed to live our lives by.....so, my Serendipity New Testament is a perfect blend of sagaci-TEA and serendipi-TEA! A great cuppa; it provides the unexpected, yet beneficial extra.

serendipi-TEA : a Re-Brew

Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth." (Genesis 9:16, NIV)

Arriving at Owen's soccer practice, the drops started to fall. Of course they did, it's Memphis BBQ Fest time. Dave Brown had just announced on the simulcast that it was raining down on the river and coming east at 40 mph. Then Joe Birch interrupted, saying, "Will you look at that---iPhones are snapping everywhere---it's a double rainbow."
Out east, we only had dark clouds and drops that were getting heavier by the moment.

But....the good news (serendipiTEA for me) was a Chi-Fil-A around the corner and the cancelled practice allowing extra time for the two of us to go inside the restaurant for a treat.
The real treat was discovered before we even walked in the door.
Owen saw it first. "Look , Shug---a rainbow. My first time ever to see one. Look it's two just like the man on the radio said."
Owen was right. A double rainbow. A double blessing. Created by God.
Just seeing Owen's first (as he recalls) rainbow with him and then both of us sharing the special event of the double rainbow. Serendipi-TEA!
The primary rainbow had the colors showing red, orange, yellow, green....from outside to inside. If the light in the rainbow is reflected twice, it results in a double rainbow---with the reverse of the colors starting with red, orange...and continuing. (red faces inward toward the other rainbow, in both rainbows)(answer.yahoo.com)
That's just what we saw!

And Owen learned a new word.....serendipity!

Serenditpi-TEA

...be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, (Ephesians 5:18b-19, NIV)
Today was Elnora's day---it's always the last Thursday of the month. A member of our family for over 35 years, Nora "raised" our babies. On her day, activities vary but always include food and often one of those crazy Madea movies, if one is showing. Today included a Whimsy Cookie Co stop. It was also going to include Bears, a nature movie because Elnora loves animal shows.
But....the time was different than we planned so we went "Heaven is for Real." The movie has gotten a lot of "rotten tomato" reviews so there were no high expectations. But then isn't that what serendipity is.....desirable discoveries, by accident.

Any movie that starts out with a choir practicing "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" has a favorable start----since that, as most readers know, is my favorite hymn. Having read the book,  the storyline was familiar, but the scenery was a surprise----Nebraska panoramic at its best. Plus, the youngster who plays 4 year old, Colton was boyish adorable, with eyes that "talked."  It's the kid who steals the show.
If you don't believe me, ..... 90,700,000 results came up when I googled---adorable Heaven is for Real boy.

Nora, who always talks during a movie, was silent throughout. I who can't sing, sang along as it ended with my favorite verse of that favorite hymn of mine.
O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be!
Let that grace now like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here's my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.
An afternoon of serendipit-TEA, sweet tea at Soul Fish and a movie served with buttered popcorn, as an after thought.

serendipi-TEA "Heads Up"

6/1/13 "Deer on the Hill!" the biker called out as he passed Ellen and me on our morning Wolf River Greenway walk.

As we rounded the corner, we looked up.

"Majestic," was Ellen's comment as we saw the doe on the hill, soon joined by another.

I was grateful for the "heads up" given by the biker. Too often, as I walk (as in other areas of my life), I look down or straight ahead toward my self-imposed goal. I can only imagine the beauty (deer, roses or whatever) I have missed in those moments of my journey.

My study of simplici-TEA is so-o-o teaching me to savor those moments!
Sometimes I get a really big sip of sereni-TEA or serendipt-TEA when God gives me a "heads up."
