THE LORD--MY REST

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures---(even with a sleeping bag and blanket)

That's REST!!!

The shepherd's presence seems to make all the difference in the behavior of His tired sheep! Turning back fear before it can get a foothold. Sitting in His "Love-Light."
Think revitalizing!

Thou has formed us for Thyself, and our hearts are restless till they find rest in Thee. -Augustine

TRUE REST!

Ever sense you need this reminder within daily eyesight!
More than permission for a Saturday nap !?

All "busy-ness" and no Sabbath rest makes this blogger wiped-out, irritable, discouraged. Take your pick! Even all three!

Look to Him! Accept His gift. Do the math! Even if you're not very got at it....your body can tell you when to slow down your moronic pace
.
So....today I took a Saturday nap. The Lord was good to me and gave rest to my soul as well as my body. (Psalm 116:7)

The One who is my rest replenished my strength allowing me to spend time with Him.
True REST from the One who is REST!

Synchronici-TEA

My soul rests quietly only when it looks to God; (Psalm 62:1, NIV)
"The Soul Needs Rest" is the title of chapter 11 in John Ortberg's book, Soul Keeping.
My first thought was that my soul needs a nap.....or at least some spiritual whitespace. Some much is coming at me lately that a little quietude would be welcome.
Ortberg contends that if one is in need of time and space to let his soul catch up with his body, then that's a good indication that your soul needs rest. (p.130)
Soul fatigue can set in.

Some things just seem to go together. Soul rest and solitude come to mind. Solitude is needed. Without the solitude, one struggles to live in harmony with God and man---especially family, in my case.

Synchronicity occurs when two meaningful events occur simultaneously. The world might call it a meaningful coincidence. I see it as a God-incidence. Me and Thee. No productivity required.
When your cuppa soul-rest is depleted......
....fill it with some chamomile and take a nap!
A cuppa synchronici-TEA of soul rest and solitude is necessary as one's soul will never find its rest unless it find's its home with God.

A quie-TEA-tude of soul goes well with a little tea and solitude---that space where we get healing and needed "catch up" rest for our soul.

Gift to Self

9/13/13 Friday the 13th----not always a bad day. Today it's been an especially good day because I have decided to give myself a gift. A nap!! A nap without guilt attached.
Our H2H (Heart to Heart) Women's Bible Study this year is so-o-o timely. For everyone, old and young alike. The topic is "The Gift of Rest" written by our director, Crickett Keith.

Already I am gleaning info about true rest. There is no true rest apart from Him.

So far, we've discussed various kinds of rest. Earlier this week, I had rich times of "soul rest" as I spent time in God's Word and Prayer. (Matthew 11:29) On this Friday the 13th, I'm dealing with a lack of physical rest. There is a "need" for this rest.

Today I'm greatly feeling that need. So, I'm seeing some available time as a gift from God (Matthew 11:28) and I'm "opening" that gift of time and re-gifting it to myself in the form of a nap.
