LEAP DAY LOVE NOTE

Some things "bother me".  Having no devotional on February 29 is one of those.

Don't misunderstand me, I had my morning quiet time BUT the first devotional book I chose did NOT have a 2/29 entry. As I checked the copy right date I noticed it was not published in a leap year, so maybe that was the reason for the omission.  

As a somewhat OCD female, I like order and structure. So...... the absence of a day's devotional in my "2nd choice book" labeled, A Year of Devotionals had me a little off-kilter. Plus, it was published during 2012, a leap year, no less. In another of that author's books, he had stated, "There's Nothing wrong with devotional books, ---Ive written some myself---but they are to be supplements to our spiritual diet, NOT the main course." (Morgan p.60) I sense his absence of a 2/29 entry emphasizes that.

But God, who knows me well....had me look up and right on the table in front of me was my old favorite, Jesus Calling DayBrightener. As I flipped the card to today's devotional, there was February 29. How special for an OCD soul.

Plus, I was affirmed as Sarah Young's entry spoke right to my heart because earlier this morning, I had prayed for others to find the right pathway to love......and "My One Word" for the year is LISTEN. "Listen more to Me" leapt right off the page and into my heart.

MONDAY MEDITATION

Monday prayers include (along with Wynellen) many of my "M" friends & my "M" family. Family girls include "my" Molly, MJ, Megan, Maeve, Marion (Lucy) & most recent addition, Marigold. Praying and meditating on Psalm 78:4, 6-7 and Proverbs 20:24 My phone "dinged"----so glad I checked the messages. What I saw blessed my heart and enhanced my meditation.

I often look at pictures from my prayer journal when I pray for youngsters in my life.

WORDSMITH WEDNESDAY

Wordsmith's find joy in words. Some words are stored in their memory banks. Some catapult the mind to another time and place. Catapult is such a word for me.

Catapult can be a "fun" word for mouth exercises. I know because I had to exercise my mouth after my cancer surgeries. Catapult: A word to retrain me to pucker and blow. 

Catapult can be a spiritual ACTION---as when God's word "jumps or springs" into my mind at just the right moment.

The Holy Spirit will give you the words to say, the moment that you need them. (Luke 12:12)

My knowledge of physics is very limited. But spiritually as I examine this catapult, I see the spring as the Holy Spirit who releases the payload. The payload is the transmitted data from God's word to my mind---a message intended for me during my hour of need. Spiritual warfare showcases one's need for God's truth.

As Robert Morgan states, when his heart is downcast, "Even the most familiar passage of Scripture can take on new life as we read them day by day. Sometimes a verse or word will leap off the page as if catapulted by the Holy Spirit."

Today may God's prefect words "catapult" into your mind for your edification on this Wordsmith Wednesday.

PSALM 100 SERVED WITH A CUPPA

 Psalm 100.

A psalm I had memorized in 4th grade as part of Mrs. Munday's scripture memory assignment. Morningside Elementary School. Ah-h those were the days of prayer in public school. To this day, she remains as one of my all time favorite teachers* and this psalm in the King James translation remains in my heart.

However, today's All to Jesus entry gave me new insight into this memory-evoking psalm.

Author Robert Morgan states that stanza 1 (vv. 1-3) are devoted to gladitude as we "shout to the Lord and serve Him with gladness." Stanza 2 (vv. 4-5) is about gratitude as one enters the His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise

That's why a cuppa spiritual at-TEA-tude this morning to start my day in His Presence---a rich blend of glad-TEA-tude & gra-TEA-tude!

*I still keep the note which she wrote to me in 2009 when I was going through my cancer treatments/surgeries.
