OVERFLOW OF THE HEART!

HEART- FULNESS is necessary for overflow.

What about a weary heart? Is your heart filled to capacity with fatigue?

Be careful! Our words give proof of what is filling our heart. Our heart controls our  tongue.

Conviction! My fatigue infested heart spews complaints of my maladies way too often lately!

Today's devotional from Experiencing God 6/13 begins with "But what comes out of the mouth comes from the heart"....(Matthew 15:18)

 In my first read through I marked 10 hearts. Heart focus! You think!

May I look to you Lord. You are the heart and heartbeat of the gospel.

Use me, O Lord,  even in my weariness, to speak your words to "encourage and edify others" today! (Experiencing God, p.165)

Spiritual Sepsis

Negative thoughts come from a negative mind. Impurity can reign in a mind empty of God's truths.

The adage that "what goes in is what comes out" is certainly important of the words that enter ones' mental pallet and then permeates one's heart. 
In the illustration above, the actual contents waiting to b discharged are septic. It says so right on the truck. 
A spiritual sepsis can permeate the body once it gets in. It can affect the heart. Even the brain can be affected as oxygen and nutrients are blocked from ones system. 
What is the remedy for spiritual sepsis? A thorough cleansing is required.

Sepsis can also invade one's spiritual life. I call it stinkin' thinkin', and if not held in check, it can block understanding of God's word thus destroying vital truths leading to godly living.
 Stinkin' thinkin' needs to  be treated by a washing of the word, God's Word so that the grace of God can come in? (Ephesians 5:26)
The cure to stinkin' thinkin' is a grateful heart?   

Create in me a clean heart O Lord and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

A Good man brings good things our of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. (Stinkin' stuff!) For the mouth speaks what theheart is full of. Luke 6:45)

So....don't fill your heart and mind with stinkin' thinkin'---the result could be septic.

...out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart  his mouth speaks. (Luke 6:45, Amplified)

I would "amplify" that verse to include actions---because one's actions follow what one is thinking  (mind) and feeling (heart.) Proverbs 27:19 backs up my thought: "As water reflects the face, so one's life reflects the heart."

In the Hebrew culture, the heart was the metaphor for the core of one's being. Center of one's personality. "It was a spiritual hub and life flowed from its orientation." (gods of war, p. 31)

If a heart is filled with love....it's love that flows forth. Love in words AND deeds.

Love can be shown in a variety of ways---but "hands on" love is the best. Being the hands and feet of God. Doing unto others. Serving with an overflow of the love of your heart....or if you are just two years old, making your dainty hands into a heart shape print for your grandarents' Valentine card, is the perfect expression.

12/10/12 Think about this.............

What you say flows from what is in your heart (Luke 6:45)

Have you been surprised recently about the words that have spewed from your mouth?

When one’s heart is rooted in gratitude, the fruit of the lips will be words of joy and encouragement.

What are your words revealing about the condition of your heart?

A heart submitted to God (James 4:7) will begin to see God’s hand of grace in every aspect of life and be grateful. Appropriate words will follow.

9/22/12 3 Xs----that’s the way God gets my attention. Luke 6:45 reminder in my Tuesday notes---"It is “out of the overflow of the mouth that the heart speaks” was first attention grabber.

#2 was Crickett’s Wednesday night lecture from James 1:26 of deception of heart of one who does not “bridle his tongue.”

Yesterday brought #3 as I listened to son’s Allen Bible Church message in “Words with Friends” series  emphasizing the “Might of the Mouth.”

Consider your words. Are the words of you mouth and the meditation of your heart pleasing and acceptable in the sight of the Lord?

If not, you, as I did recently,  just failed the “oral” aspect of a spirit-filled life.
