"a-DOOR-a-ble"

1/15/12 Some doorways are more inviting than others. These entryways just seem to say, "Come on in." One such doorway is on my walking route and I love to watch the "inviting" seasonal changes. From stacked pumpkins and  Christmas decor, they often get me thinking about the importance of being welcoming---even in my own demeanor. Outwardly, what am I exhibiting to others?

When I walked past "the" entry Saturday, I was charmed with all the girly fluff. Later in the day, the street was filled with many who were "invited in." The baby was turning one.
They even had pink buckets to hold the umbrellas. Wet weather did not diminish the BIG event one bit.
Truly adorable---Today Miss A is officially 1 !

What a celebration! This young Christian couple celebrates life's moments and allows others to see their joy. What a testimony to God's goodness.

Let it flow, let it flow….

9/3/12…..let it flow. My Utmost entry (9/2) reminded me that it’s not what I gain in my relationship with Christ that’s most important. Rather it’s what He pours out (in me) to flow through me that counts. Out of me should flow to others all the fullness of Christ.
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture* hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (John 7:37-38)
In midst of meditation on these verses, imagine the thousands of lives that could be touched and refreshed by the lives of believers living out this truth and letting it flow.

For additional info on what scripture says about thirst, check out Isaiah 55:1 and Isaiah 58:11.

“P”erfect “P”airing

7/5/11….and I’m not talking golf here. Today I received 2 books that have really piqued my spiritual interest. One by a pastor. One by a pray-er, as in one who prays. Unable to decide which one to read first, I dove into both and began to extract “plums” from each.

A Positive Life is written by Shane Stanford, who is set to become the senior pastor at Christ Methodist this month. It’s basically “his” story of living with HIV (from a transfusion) and how it taught him the simplicity and contentment of a life shared in a community of laughter and love.

  • Positive Life plum---God’s healing passes understanding; it gets down on the floor with us and wipes away our tears and holds us, especially when the aches and pains of life seem too much to bear. (Positive Life, p.44)

Paul Miller’s, A Praying Life: connecting with God in a distracted world, is the focus of a 5 week book study that Kathy T. is leading in the east Memphis area for a group of like-minded women. She was drawn to the book on Fellowship Memphis’ pastor, Bryan Loritts recommendation as more than another “how to pray” type book.

  • Praying Life plum---What does an unused prayer link look like? ANXIETY. (caps are mine) (A Praying Life p. 70)

With pink highlighter in hand, I’ll keep you posted as I partake of more of these powerful, though personal, plums/treasures.
