MONDAY IN PSALMS, MATTHEW & 1PETER!

Today my cloudy, anxious thoughts are multiplying (Psalm 94:19) with aging, death of a friend, medical problems = one more portal and a password I'll forget, whining, political madness and all else I can't control in this worried and weary world! Fatigue reigns and I am out of strength.
Help my hopes outnumber my fears! (Psalm 43:5)
Matthew 6:25
The answer is TRUST! (1 Peter 5:7)
May I TRUST Him more and fixate less on "fixing" life's problems as I pour my morning cuppa anxie-TEA down the drain!

CASTING CARES!

Casting is difficult in the rushing waters of Deep Creek according to son-in-law Corey. It can also be difficult in Colorado according to my nephew Ryan, who ties his own flies  Casting is difficult. From getting better at casting to fly-fishing is what grandson Caleb works on all the time in his fishing adventures.
I, on the other hand, had to have lessons years ago on "casting."  Celebrating in Serenbe, GA as  the "Baby" of our group turned 60, we all gave it a try. I didn't learn much but it was so fun exploring "the "high church" of fishing which fly-fishing has been labeled. (Fishing gear hard to see but we did have some. It came with an instructor.)
As we have all aged exponentially, we have learned the need for casting.
Nowadays, "casting" is the importance of letting go of "what ifs" of medical testing and the "fear of the ramifications of the latest malady" discovered. Lots of praying. Lots of fellowship on the same side of the struggle as we groan with and for one-another. Casting for a fish is nothing compared to the need to cast our anxieties and worries for each other to the only One who can bring comfort. Jesus, who cares for each of us, His children!

Lately, as the cares of our hearts are many, His consolations cheer our souls. (Psalm 94:19)
So.....I keep prayerfully "casting" for dear friends.

"C" WORDS!

As Scotty Smith, founding and Pastor Emeritus of Christ Community Church in Franklin, Tn shared "C" Words today, my mind went into overdrive.
Jesus, when there's more hours left in our day than kindness in our hearts, help us. Breathe your calm, care and compassion into us, and through us.
Great "C" Words for me to focus on this Friday. Calm, care, and compassion certainly trump comparison, complaint and criticism any day.

May joyful
"C" Words enter your day as you choose to "cast all our cares on Christ---the ultimate "C" in a believer's life!

MUSING ON BENDING GOD'S EAR

"Bending God's Ear in Times of Trouble" *was Allen Bible Church's sermon yesterday!
Pastor, Buddy Liles, assured the Texas congregation and those of us listening via livestream, that King David's, Psalm 86 "pressure cooker prayer," can give believers a vocab to express our trust even as we are troubled.
From our lips to God's ear. Whether he bends down to listen to my cry for help, (MSG) or inclines His ear as it says in Psalm 116:1, I know that when My anxious thoughts multiply within me, it's His consolations that delight my soul." (Psalm 94:19) Sounds like comfort to me.

How thankful I am that because of his goodness, God is eager to bend his ear to hear our cries for mercy and offer comfort. Whenever I'm in trouble (or distress,) I pray, knowing you will listen. (Psalm 86:7, CEV)
As we pour out our hearts to him in times of suffering we can trust Him to be our refuge.(Psalm 62:8).....an ever present help.

ALL IS CALM!

Calm!
These days is "calm" used much any more in our multi tasking society?
Do we know how to be still?
Be still before the Lord?? (Psalm 46:10)
In today's terms, is this God's way of encouraging us in our time of worry, busyness and anxious thoughts? "Relax. I got this." (Psalm 94:19)
His consolations certainly can bring "bright" to our lives and delight to our souls.!

ANSWERED PRAYER!

No prayer is too small or insignificant to be heard and answered by God.
Some are answered immediately.
Sometimes we must wait.
Others are not quite the answer we had sought.

There's an answered prayer here. Look closely!*
It's only significant to me. Hubby knew so he searched. He found it yesterday. It was after I accepted the loss. Acceptance. Then Gad answered  It was like a "trust" lesson.

Call unto me and I will answer thee and shew thee great and might things which thou knowest not. (Jeremiah 33:3, KJV)

When our prayers align with God's will (Thy will be done.) and purpose He always answers for our good and His glory.

*Look carefully in the top right rectangle & it's in the lower left corner of that rectangle.

GARDEN GUEST?

Garden Guest? Garden Pest?
Look closely to see the web.*

To an arachnophobic, a spider would be a most unwelcome guest.
For a botanist or horticulturist, a spider could be a desired guest.
I would welcome them, outside, because they eat mosquitos, fleas, cockroaches, flies and even earwigs, whatever they are. My Master Gardener neighbor, Lynda T. would probably love them as the earwigs' reputation of "janitor of the garden" precedes them. I would not know one if I saw it.

There is one spider I would not welcome......a black widow spider. A black widow, the most venomous spider in N. America with venom about 15 times stronger than the venom of a rattlesnake. Its venom attacks one's nerves.

The good news is, a black widow spider is very identifiable.
Note the red hour-glass mark on the abdomen.
So grateful for the obvious identification that warns us to stay away.

Lately, I've needed clearly marked warnings of things I need to stay clear of to keep safe in today's world. I don't want to be cynical, but often one's naivety has them wandering into trouble. Preying on seniors comes to mind. We had to change our credit card #. Hacking into medical practices records has also happened recently.

But God..... in his love and mercy is always near. So...."when my anxious thoughts multiply within me, His consolations delight my soul." (Psalm 94:19) Then I go next door and sit in my neighbor's garden, a sanctuary in which to observe a spider that does me good, not harm.

*Photo by Lynda Terry. She must have learned the tricks of the trade from her late husband, Art, who was an amazing professional photographer! Think JFK's son, John-John, saluting his father's casket as it passed by him.Yep, that was Art's work!

joy......Joy......JOY!

Struggling lately. Depressed spirit. Enveloped by a pall of sadness and grief.
Lethargy looms.

Knowing joy is a choice.......guilt ensued.

Joy is a by-product of an attitude of gratitude.
I had taken off my dance shoes.

The Bible is a book of joy! (Deuteronomy 16:15)
Exercise needed. More time in His Word. (Psalm 94:19) D.

Acceptance. Keep on keeping on. (Philippians 4:4) A.

Fulness of Joy RX. (Psalm 16:11, I Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Don't lose hope. (Romans 12:12) N.
Consolations from friends. (Psalm 94:19) Thanks, Dixie! C.

I need to find my D.A.N.C.E. shoes. E
Exercise joy.....Joy.....until it gets to JOY!----

CHOOSE: CORRECT MULTIPLICAND

In calculation, one gets a "product" (answer ) when one chooses the multiplicand that is to be multiplied. Multiplicand x Multiplier = Product

To me, in my spiritual life, this is somewhat of a warning. Those mathematical terms might be a stretch for all the thoughts that multiply in my head but God is showing me that anxious thoughts multiplied indicate I need more of Him or I will get a quantity obtained by multiplication, which I don't want. (Psalm 94:19)
As Chuck Swindoll states in the "anxiety" chapter 3, Christ at the Crossroads, (my) problems,  "multiply" when I insert "my" solutions, try to work them out by "myself "or allow "my" own "fear" of inadequacy to creep in. The product from the multiplication of those problems is an answer I don't like. I become "afraid."
Clearly the answer for the multiplying of anxious thoughts is fear.  "Fear with inadequacy."
Multiplying anxious thoughts becomes a deep-seeded fear much too heavy for me to carry around----so I choose thought multiplicands of love & truth, given by God. For He has not given us "fear but power, love and a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7) I'll take those "products" any day.

CHOOSE: PEACE

Choosing peace is not always as easy as it sounds. It's a "mind thing!" Aren't all choices!
When anxious thoughts seem to multiply within me, (Psalm 94:19) like knots in my stomach, I need to seek the "fruit of peace!" Allow His peace to come forth, grow within, and ease those knots.

Choose to "Seek Peace and pursue it"---thats the right choice!! (Psalm 34:14)

Buzz Words

Mrs. Eleanor Morgan. Even typing the name brings back the 9th grade "dread" of the science class spring project assignment.*
Thankfully my Uncle Pete came to my rescue, all the way from Clarksville, TN---helping me do a "Beekeeping" display. I don't remember too much about the process except that Uncle Pete made me wear big gloves and it was hard to take pictures with my "Brownie" camera with those gloves on. Visually, I only remember the green and white box type hives at the far end of his back yard on willow Heights. It's the auditory memory that stays with me.
Apiary audio.
That hum. From a the hum-m-m of a single AWOL bee or the hive buzz which sounded like rushing water to me to the incredibly LOUD buzz,  of a new swarm that Uncle Pete retrieved from a nearby playground.
Think buzz saw!
Irritating and aggravating, not soothing.

All of that to say, lately my "nighttime "head feels as if it's caught in said beehive.
Anxious thoughts buzz in my head. Surely Psalm 94:19 is etched somewhere in the furrowed lines of my forehead. Yet, the BUZZING continues, usually between 2 and 4 am.

Obviously, I have a life lesson that I have yet to learn-----so the struggle continues.

As Carolyn Weber noted in her latest book,  holy is the day, settling into a horizontal position, was enough for my body to "snap into memory mode." (p. 39) Her imagined happenings of mishaps or crime that could rob her of a loved one or that she could be dying from "some unknown, unnamed ailment gnawing at her from the insides" settles in once she is prone. (p.40)

I hope to finish this book quickly to see if she has new ideas or verses for me to use as appropriate "buzz" words.

*Thanks to Uncle Pete's tutelage, I received a blue ribbon.

"mul-TEA-ply"

When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul. (Psalm 94:19, NASB)
Insomnia seems to "reign" lately---at least on my side of the bed. So....whether I am awakened by an extreme warmth (aka a flash) or an "urge" which has me trekking to the loo. (aka the toilet) It's during these early am awake times that worry seems to reset my metabolism from the calm I desire in sleep to the racing of whirring thoughts. If our minds have a metabolism, anxious thoughts upstart mine toward mach speed during the night watches. Obviously, the Psalm 94:19 verse is a "go-to" verse for me as I have embedded it in 4 previous blogs.* But today, it's front and center!

The question asked by hubby prior to bedtime came to the forefront of my mind.....and sleep eluded me for another couple of hours.
"Why do you have to blog every day? Maybe when you go on your girls' trip you could blog that you're taking off for a few days."
In recent years, I have never sensed such a "daily" compulsion. Would it be acceptable to no longer adhere to this semblance of a commitment? But God.....Isn't my love for Him the compelling factor? If not, then why am I doing it?

Struggling to crawl out of bed to be on time for an 8:30 appointment, I had doubts. No middle of the night blog ideas came. No "tea" words on the edges of my mind. No energy for the day seemed evident and that was even without factoring in a blog entry. But God............

Leaving point A at 9:25 am to get to point B by 9:30 am, I passed a table, with a "tented" brown leather book. As a librarian, dog-earing a page, or "tenting a book" to hold one's place is a no-no! So, I backtracked. I picked up the book, Jesus Calling by Sarah Young which was holding a place for today's date. There was my "tea" word and that one word was an affirmation for me-----today I was to blog......"mul-TEA-ply."
The Pharisees chose to "multiply" regulations to create their own form of godliness and lost sight of God. (Jesus Calling, 6/2) Even today man-made rules can enslave each of us when one's focus is on performance and not on knowing God.

For Christian bloggers, a worthy goal is to "shed the love of God abroad in our hearts " (Romans 5:5) that His word might spread and his disciples multiply and become obedient in the faith. (Acts 6:7) and For God's sake. His glory, not our own.

Several cuppas of mul-TEA-ply are available:

  • A pharisaical form of multiplying that focuses on "self."
  • A God focused multiplying that brings Him glory.

I hope to choose the right brew so that "whatever I do in word or deed will be done in His name and to His glory." (Colossians 3:17) Today I chose to focus on Him and He led me to blog.

"tenaci-TEA"

Be still,  and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10, KJV)
Holding on can be hard, especially if it requires waiting. Tenacity is needed. Waiting to see what God will do.
Disappointment occurred today when news was received that my "local" grandson did not get accepted to the campus school at the university. His assigned school has been taken over by the state and is in an unsafe area of town which adds great concern to the disappointment.
Though his mom had been diligent in doing all the "right" things, too many other variables seemed to over-ride her dream.
Too many others parents were employed at the university.
Too many others "grandfathered in" as siblings.
Too many others lived a "tad" closer to the school itself.

Regardless of the reasons for the outcome, it wasn't the news any of us wanted to hear.

Oswald Chambers 2/22 entry in "My Utmost for His Highest" was a reminder that when hopes are disappointed, it isn't the end of a matter. Because thou has kept the word of my patience, I will also keep thee from the hour of temptation...(Revelation 3:10) reminds us to NOT fall into the temptation to worry or to rush to "fix-it" in our own strength.
Waiting is required. Waiting with absolute certainty that God is sovereign. Waiting with scripture verses in our minds rather than fretting and being unduly upset. We need to "take heart" and not let our anxious thoughts multiply within us. (Psalm 94:19)
Great hope is shown by the psalmist in Psalm 27---a hope rooted in God's goodness. A hope that is patient, waiting on Him. A hope that gives strength to our tenacity.

For He will hide me in His shelter in the day of trouble. (Psalm 27:5)

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.  (Psalm 27:14)

Spiritual tenacity is needed. A big cuppa tenaci-TEA!

DON'T DOUBT

6/19/12 Awake since 1:30 am---of course that would be like oversleeping in the Ukraine where it would be 9:30 am.
Re-adjusted hot pack on my back. Took an Advil. Prayed for others. And then:
  • Had visions of "squat" toilets;
  • began "repacking" in my mind since large checked bag is used to take camp supplies and carry-on for clothes for 12 days, drugs, toiletries, etc. is 17 lb limit-- since my EMPTY carry-on weighs 9 lbs, what's a gal to do---shop for a new bag or hope they don't weigh it cause they never have before;
  • recalled info that all "trip" seats confirmed after Memphis for everyone on team---except me,
  • remembered out of town guest, pastor and his 2 kids from son's church, arrive at 7 pm tonight while packing clutters table and food still not bought;
  • considered ironing "crisp" $20 bills because I had folded them and that's a "no-no" in Cherkassy, Ukraine.
"You get the idea, I'm sure" is what I just emailed to Claudia and Terry, my faithful prayer couple.
Anxious thoughts continued whirring so I've been up seeking consolations from the Lord that would delight my soul. Seeking "light" through His word.
When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul. (Psalm 94:19)
Ate oatmeal around 2:30 with cranberries for fiber because everyone has told me how important that is when you travel "long distances". Began a new list.
Waiting for the morning light to shine through my trees and remembering what I heard just yesterday---

"Don't doubt in the dark, what God has shown you in the light."

So-o-o don't doubt, Dots.

peaceful meditation

4/2/12 Peace…..it’s all from Him, the One who is our Peace. Such began my word study on God, our peace. Jehovah Shâlôm or Yahweh Shâlôm.
Then Gideon built an altar there to the LORD and named it The LORD is Peace. (Judges 6:24)
יהוה שׁלום
Jehovah-shalom = "Jehovah is peace"
       1. the name of a sacred altar built by Gideon in Ophrah

Gideon had been face to face with the angel of the Lord having just witnessed a miracle of God’s power. It was at that moment that he recognized who his God was and he worshiped. It was the beginning of the alleviation of Gideon’s fears for both himself and the nation of Israel. That fear was replaced with trust in the Lord. Once trust replaces fear, the result is peace.

I filled an entire page with “peace” verses but I kept going back to Judges 6:24.Knowing the character of the God whom I worship is where “peace” of mind starts. Where peace resides, anxious thoughts are captured and covered by His consolations. (Psalm 94:19) Delight and trust take over.

Perfect peace comes from a mind focused on the Lord.
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in you. (Isaiah 26:3)
When peace resides in the mind, it moves to the heart. A peaceful heart permeates the body.
A heart at peace gives life to the body…..(Proverbs 14:30)
Those are pieces of my peaceful meditation which God is now allowing me to put into practice.

Night Noises

3/9/11

Nighttime. Why is it so hard? “Things” seem to grow in the blackness of the night---at least at my house. I just want to close my mind to the thoughts---fly away from the problems, which believe it or not, is the way the psalmist, David, felt.
Psa. 55:4-8
My insides are turned inside out; specters of death have me down.
I shake with fear, I shudder from head to foot.
"Who will give me wings," I ask—"wings like a dove?"
Get me out of here on dove wings; I want some peace and quiet.
I want a walk in the country, I want a cabin in the woods.
I'm desperate for a change, from rage and stormy weather. (The Message)
Night Noises, a picture book, by Australian author, Mem Fox, tells of Lily Laceby, an old woman whose bones were as creaky as floorboards at midnight. Noises do tend to intensify in the night----just like my thoughts. Anxieties, insecurities, hurts. All those fears seem to gain strength in the night. They become a like a “roaring lion” waiting to devour---the teeth of the enemy waiting to “eat” me alive.

I know the scripture, “When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Thy consolations delight my soul.” (Psalm 94:19) Yet, my roaring thoughts were drowning out meditation and robbing me of my rest---good news (exciting), bad news (heartbreaking), Michelè’s MRI, revolt in Libya, Afghan women. My night noises of anxiety/pain know no geographical limits.

Fox’s Night Noises heralded a surprising awakening. My awakening was fatigue----no surprise there. But God…….”the One who gives songs in the night” (Job 35:10) sent afternoon mail that brought a scripture reminder.
We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts (2 Peter 1:19)

I think I’ll take this verse to bed with me tonight to ward off my “scary” night noises.

Updated Details

1/17/09
4:45 am wake-up which is “sleeping in” for me---already preparing to sharpen more pencils---what’s this all about?? WAITING—since no results are due until Tuesday—trying to make self eat----now that’s a switch---Molly brought me some homemade challah (sp?) bread but it’s from a great Jewish bakery and it does appeal to me---plan on resting and reading ---Larry’s going to print e-mail messages for me on pink paper---they will be there to keep me “in the Pink” as he reads then to me during recovery---and I’ll be trying to stay away from germs. My day and time to pray for Warriors on the Wall for church---it’s been my ”routine” since 1995, I think, and routine is comforting to me especially from the view of my prayer chair.

1/16/09 Friday ---became my last day at work for awhile though I didn’t know that until later
1:12 wake-up—1 Tylenol PM which doc said I could take---must not have been enough. Prayed for 2 suffering spiritual giants—much easier to pray for others than self---praised God for His character traits---in alphabetical order of course. As I tried to pray for self, questions would flood my mind—if my lips are sewn together (he hopes to make 2 from 1 bottom lip) and right part of nose is gone, how will I breathe if other nostril gets stopped up? I live on Afrin when weather changes---with no nose, do I just shoot it straight to my brain? Wondered at long list of things that I can’t take ---why not green tea or vitamins or fish oil or calcium or even red wine? You get the idea---it’s called fretting and Psalm 37 says, “Fret not.” (Friend later sent me an Adrian Rogers quote about fretting---she knows me well.)
Precious secretary at work pulled me into her office with a big hug and said, “Dotsy, it’s out of your hands---so you need to look at God’s hand in this---even in the little things!” How true—that was from His hand---a friend to help me refocus. Immediately I thought of how God has been using my children to work our all the details for me---even from afar. He has awakened folks in the night to pray for me even when they didn’t know the diagnosis. Way was paved through a nurse friend and I saw friend of friend at doc’s office. Talked w/ principal—who like every one else at HHS told me not to worry about grant or presentations or e-books or anything else and folks began to pick up the slack---esp. other librarian so pray for her---I couldn’t even remember that e-books would be under “e” in file. Principal said I had more available sick days than school days left + sick bank and I should just take care of myself---so kind, and like Larry realized the importance of me not getting even a cold before this series of surgeries begins. I guess schools are kind of germy.
A missed call from “interim” superintendent but got 2 e-mails—in last one he responded to my comment “if I don’t quit writing, you won’t think I’m getting any work done” to which he responded, “as your old boss, and I guess your new big boss, I give you permission to get all the hugs and prayers you need today!!” What a compassionate man. As many of you have heard me say, at this season in my life (old) the high school setting is where I need to be and there is none better than Houston High.
Couldn’t find, Jesus Calling devotional book (later found it right where it always is, go figure) so Molly called and read it to me. “Rehearsing your troubles results in experiencing them many times……..do not multiply your troubles in this way! Instead, come to me.” God’s hand—sent a call to help me refocus.
Told student library workers that I probably wouldn’t be back for awhile b/c of extensive surgery on face. Girl in 2nd period asked if tumor that was being removed was cancer---whew---admitting is hard especially trying not to cause concern for someone else. Afterwards my guy helper waited til all were gone and with tears streaming down his cheeks asked if he could pray for me---with his arm around me he prayed a beautiful prayer imbedded with scripture and telling God that “all of us love Mrs. Liles and we’re asking for healing ------I know God heard his prayer and will answer according to His good and perfect will for my life.

CT scan w/ iodine injection didn’t take long once they got started though fatigue had me feeling really woozy and I knew I couldn’t move my head. Again, God had me praying for others and that allowed me “not to be dismayed as I saw the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living” (Psa. 27:13---even if suffering or terminally ill.

1/15/09 Thursday (When Molly was 3, Thursdays were “pie days”—we’d bake one for us and one to share---random thoughts pop up a lot)

Grandson, Nathan, almost 7, prayed for me this am. At bedtime, Noah, who just turned 5, prayed, “Dear God, when the doctor is through cutting on Shug’s face, let him give her GOOD band-aids and a treat!”
Hemmed in by those prayers I made it through a day of doc visits (nurse friend had already made calls there for me so things got moving) and consultations and surgery set-ups and re-dos and undos as things changed throughout the day. Reconstruction doc at 9am (affirmed by many from other states, even) helped calm my shakiness (I spent a good part of my early wake-up letting the tears flow—most I’ve cried.) by his “matter of fact” comments—“chemo doesn’t work on this, radiation isn’t usually much good either---it has to come out.” Proceeded to show me pics---to encourage me, I think----hm-m-m gaping holes and missing facial features can be a little disconcerting even on “someone else’s face.” Said I needed a MOHS surgeon as well—confirming what Buddy’s Dallas doc had already said—and that he only worked with one---guess that narrows my choices. Scheduled surgeries back to back set up a consultation w/ other surgeon at noon. Person setting up hospital surgeries at G’town Methodist was son of nurse friend---that’s encouraging too.
Noon—consultation about MOHS procedure---Doc’s manner was likeable and assuring. He did say he didn’t think his part could be worked in on a regular surgery day when he had other patients that he felt like he needed a whole day with me—thus not causing others to wait or him to feel rushed—so would rearrange and come in on his day off---what a man!! But---if it’s in the bone (and this type of cancer is aggressive in it’s location and can go into bone, muscle, blood vessels, nerves, etc.) he can’t do it since he just does soft tissue. So he was going to order an MRI or CT scan w/ contrasts---opted for CT scan b/c I’m so-o-o-o claustrophobic. He starts that process and I start praying and send word out asking others to do the same. Went to lunch and ordered mashed potatoes. Crackers and now mashed potatoes have been the food of choice.
Home to more phone calls for new referrals, pre-certifications, etc. Folks so helpful and call you back and are patient when you forget your name---Cancer is a word that really seems to make me jump---for me, it makes me fall to my knees.
CT scan scheduled for 2:15 tomorrow—off Humphreys Blvd.---I dub area “doc row” b/c it’s one clinic or diagnostic center or office after another ---but it’s near my house. YEA!

1/14/09
At 1:10 wake-up, “When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Thy consolations delight my soul” (Psalm 94:19) whirred through my mind—Later in day a friend gave me the citation for it.
After not sleeping straight through the night, I tried to begin a whirlwind day w/ insurance, referrals, etc. taking Angie’s advice about not going to work was a smart move.

Unable to focus and do much—Most productive thing I was capable of was sharpening pencils---later in day I visited my neighbor who has been suffering for 2 1/2 years with cancer and went to read to my friend who said he would come read to me after my surgery---which made me laugh because Terry is blind and in a wheelchair. But he’s counting on Claudia to get him to me I guess and he’s bringing a book on tape.

Visit from DC friend, Michelle, here to care for her mom (Sherry Kaplan) suggested a blog—Molly was sitting there and volunteered b/c she thought it would be a great idea to share with folks here and elsewhere—so there’s going to be a blog.

1/13/09
Dr. Schneider called as I was fixing dinner and gave the diagnosis---microcystic adnexal carcinoma. Here’s what I e-mailed a friend after I called family.

I now have gone back & read Jan. 10 in Jesus Calling --the Sat. the day after the doc visit where he told me he thought a biopsy was needed---practice trusting in quiet days---then when storms come the balance will be sufficient to see you through.

The doc called about an hour and a half ago and the news wasn't what I had hoped for---I have a rare aggressive skin cancer that is deep and needs to come out. The good news is that it's not known for spreading--I can't spell metastasize correctly, I'm sure. Hope to know more tomorrow--going out of dermatologists hands to oncologist and reconstructive surgeon b/c it will probably be major since few of these type surgeries are done.

Have told family and called work to say I wouldn't be there and now I've told you. I don't even know how to ask for prayer--I'm usually on the other side. Pray that the Lord will be glorified---I don't want my fears to cast a shadow on His goodness

Biopsy during lunch break from school---quite a plug—a stitch or 2 and I was light headed/nauseated and had to lie back down 2 times before I could walk out, even with Larry’s help. Results in 3 days, he thought.

Jesus Calling devotional book was so on target for me that morning---

"Let me prepare you for the day that stretches before you (biopsy on growth under skin, not easily seen but growing & under my right nostril) I know exactly what this day will contain. You only have vague ideas about it. (the nausea and lightheadedness that followed threw me for a loop b/c I had to get back to school for a mtg.) You would like a map showing you all the twists and turns of your journey (well, yeah-a, esp. the map part, anyone who knows me, knows that) You'd feel more prepared (well, yeah-a again---but He already knows all that, thus the new adventure of trust)....I will equip you for the journey, every step of the way. (Sounds like step-by-step trust to me---should know results in a few days.

Appt. w/ Dr. Michael Schneider booked in Oct. to check suspicious mole—mole okay—right before leaving, I asked for him to look at cyst like place under right nostril –which from across from where he stood he couldn’t see it (which a plastic surgeon had told me 4 yrs. ago, you don’t want to fool with that, don’t remember him touching it)—but up close and touching he could feel hardness ---said he’d never seen anything like it and though probably not cancer because my skin was smooth and cancer works from top down & this seemed to come from bottom up, he wanted to do a biopsy—which he only does on Mon. and since he was going to be closed on MLK day, I asked for the 12th.
