Embrace kindness; reflect the heart of God!

Daughter Molly certainly did that when she created a "glitzy" cane for me. In recent years, as I've begun to wobble and hobble more and more, I am oblivious to people "in my space." 

Her gift was a gift to others as well as me. 

Her rationale was simple but needed......

"Mom since you no longer seem aware of people coming in  your direction, yet need a cane to stay upright, I've created your cane with some glitz so others can see you coming."

It's been working and I am grateful for her kindness! I can't even begin to count the number of hours needed to add all the glitter. Plus, some have followed me out of a ladies room with said cane in hand as they chased me down before I fell.People even comment on it to me and even seem anxious to open doors for me.

Thanks much for your kind gift, "my" Molly!

Celebrate this week-end! Why?

Daylight saving starts the second Sunday in March and continues until the first Sunday in November 1 @ 2 a.m. local time.

Why is that important? Living in a state that observes Daylight Saving Time, we get to sleep in. 

WooHoo----a wake-up call allowing an extra hour of sleep!

Think brighter mornings and earlier sunsets. Though many states hope for Daylight Saving Time to be unending. So far it has not happened. 

Think on-going political tussle!

So when your alarm goes off tomorrow, wake-up refreshed and ready to head out to church to pay spiritual attention to truth from God's Word.

Think gathering together as believers for mutual encouragement and spiritual support. (Hebrews 10:25)

Draw near to God with a sincere heart. A heart filled with faith and cleansed by the blood of Jesus.

Driving for over an hour mostly on a one-lane highway of road work through the Nantahala Gorge was worth every minute of it---anticipating a few hours with a long time friend and her2 daughters.

Peek, peak, and pique;  sound the same but meaning varies very much! 

'Peak' 'Peek' 'Pique'

These 3 are rarely listed alphabetically but it helps one whose memory cap is already full and exacerbated by amyloid plaque in the rain. Today it helped me add new POPs to my list----Pinnacle Of Prayer and Peak of Power.

Peak is a noun or adjective that refers to a maximum or high point, as in the peak of a mountain right outside our great room window....

..or a peak performance! Think a second-grader dancing in the rain.

Peek is sight related and often refers to looking quickly. Growing up, our kids would peek over the stair case bannister on Christmas Eve and then run back upstairs to avoid getting "caught"! 

Lastly, a third homophone pique, means "to excite or arouse" and is usually used with "curiosity." For me, (today) my curiosity is piqued by homophones!

Take a peek! It'll be the peak of your day!

COLLEGE GAME DAY!

College Game Day---every Saturday 9am-12 noon is on our TV. It is also on TVs of many others! THINK football fans of family and friends. Most are male, who are definitely football fans of his/her own college attended or in a certain town, or any number of reasons, starting from childhood. Even closets can be filled with attire for all ages in a family's school fave colors.

For me, there can be a bit too much commentary and my watching is a bit sporadic. 

However, the creativity of the students expressing not only the love of football and their favorite team, but also their love of Jesus with just as many signs!

Signs that can encourage and minister to many! Signs of hope!

A mis-matched stumbling mess.

Cane needed.

Cane left in car.

Husband catches me mid-fall and retrieves cane.

Regardless of time of day, keep hubby or a sweet friend near-by!

Molly's "glittery" cane helps so people can see coming.

New bookmark gift, from Hoptown gal I have known since first grade, seems to have the physical properties of a plumb line. 

I know the Bible does...Spiritual ones that is!

PRAYFUL SINGING!

DELIGHT THE LORD!

Can't carry a tune in a bucket?! Think broken record in the wrong key.

Out of tune! Singing a song with correct notes missing!

So how does one delight the Lord when singing a favorite hymn with joy, but off key?! 

How can one please the Lord? Whether through music or words alone? 

My answer is..."God pleasing music or prayers comes from the heart."

Anne Graham Lotz suggests His Word tells what pleases Him!

"Don't just get your Bible out but open it up. Read. Apply. Obey.

He will be pleased."

INTERCESSORY PRAYER!

RA needed prayer. I have no way to contact her unless our paths cross.

But God in His love and mercy reminded me that He is the contact she needs. 

Therefore, I pray for all my Monday people and keep on praying for RA all days until God directs me otherwise.

For the Christian, the focus is on the Triune God. 

Think favor from a divine source!

Father God, His son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Through every aspect of life it's a blessing to find God's Grace at each turn.....

.....even at a perfume counter!

WHO IS HE?

WHO IS HE?

He with a capital H would be a clue except this blog entry is completely capitalized. 

Maybe subject and verb of a few key verses will help.

• He chose.
• He loves.
• He made.
• He rejoices.

(He) is our refuge...(He) is is our strength...(He) is a our present help in trouble......as Jesus Christ is God's Son.

Indeed "He" is!

Grandads can be a big help as one is heading south on fall break.

JLK's 1st purchase was a "stuffy"---he loves stuffies and he knows his grandad's fave Disney character is Donald Duck! Hmmm!!

Grandad believers are blessed as God pours out His Spirit and blessings of future generations on them and that includes grandchildren.

Isaiah 44:3 highlights the abundant grace and blessings that flow to the descendants of those who seek the Lord.

What a blessing---to have wide-open windows on both the east and west sides of our mountain ridges.

"From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised." (Psalm 113:3)

Yesterday's sunset was a beautiful closure to our western view of the Smoky Mountains!

AUTUMN BLESSINGS!

A bit of morning chill yesterday lead to a need for a jacket today!

As Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, "For everything there is a season." 

But sometimes the same season has not only different temps, but also different weather patterns. Last week had yet to have an actual hurricane hit landfall, quite late, if not the latest.

Then Hurricane Isaias made landfall yesterday as the latest to hit Gulf Coast, USA. 

In the fall season, a time to uproot began with apple picking.

Think harvest.  

Yet, this week Barber's Orchards are closed due to wind gusts' predictions.

 

Harvest time reminds us all of God's sowing and reaping----whether harvesting crops from the ground or gathering fruits of spiritual lives of people. In both arenas of sowing and harvesting, trusting the Lord for timing in our labor inspires us knowing that in His timing, we will reap what we sow.

Think due season

A bountiful harvest of blessings!

Recognize God's Mercies as a free gift to believers.

Gifts that are expanded with prepositional phrases.

"In" all areas of life; in affliction, in devotion, in faith, in hope, in joy, in perseverance, in prayer, in tribulation.

WORDFULL WEDNESDAY!

I found words this a.m. All from a bookmark. 

I was led to Psalm 71 and beyond.

• A great scripture to use to kick-start remembering to pray a "Prayer for Old Age" for my widows group on 6/8/20. Recall again today!
• God is with you.He moves with you. God is not static.He is not only a temporary refuge. Trust in the Lord, for all things, not just in deliverance from your circumstances.
• Do not cast me off in the time of old age. Forsake me not when my strength is spent. (Psalm 71:9) Remind me you are my true resource.
• 8/1/21 Andrew Beach's sermon, "You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again....bring me up again....and comfort me again. (Psalm 71:20-21)

• Resolve today to sing praises for your righteousness, my Redeemer!

LORD, thank you for my wagonful of "R" words today! 

TRUTH FROM STATE OF TENNESSEE!

Prayer Mountain has 29 Biblical teachings inscribed in the monuments on the right side of the 321 steps which lead to the top. The state funding each marker is engraved along with the teaching.

Verses from Tennessee focused on regeneration and were the 3rd monument on the way up. 

In Matthew 19:28, Jesus addresses his disciples, promising them a significant role in the future. He states that during the renewal or regeneration, when the Son of Man is seated on his glorious throne, his followers will also occupy twelve thrones and judge the twelve tribes of Israel.

So transformative. Think all things new.

Titus 3:5 says that God saved us not because of righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy. It also says this happens through the “washing of regeneration” and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

God's mercy is key to regeneration! 

The state of Tennessee's monument shares that truth.
