GOD WINK!

What is a God Wink? Is it something you see physically? Is it something you "see" in your mind?
For me, a God wink can be when God comes alive as I'm reading His Word as if speaking directly to me and my circumstance. Often a God wink becomes evident after the fact. Hindsight. Surely God has done this thing in His timing just for me.
Sometimes  a God wink looks me right in the face----square in the eye,  through a friend whom God had spoken to and she passed along the blessing. God had such a God Wink planned for me this morning.
I was going in the door as Marsha was coming out---I can't even remember her last name but I know her daughter is married to a friend from church's son. Her smile spoke volumes of recognition. (Psalm 27:13)
Then she reached in her "exercise tote" and pulled out a box of "D" stationery.
She said, "I bought these months ago to benefit a "hope" women's ministry and prayed, knowing God had just the person whose name began with a D to cross my path. And here you are!!!"
That, my friends, is exactly what a God Wink looks like---a blessing, that sometimes is a surprise wink of blessing both ways. (2 Corinthians 1: 3-4)......
....and in some unique way seems to have God's stamp on it!

APRIL= BIRTHDAY MONTH

April birthdays in my family include 1 brother,  1 daughter, 1 grandfather, 1 uncle, 2 cousins, 5 sweet friends and hubby! (Romans 12:10)
Hooray! Hooray!
Hubby caught up with me today! Both of us grateful to the increase of years in our lives. (Proverbs 9:11)
.....In a Mexican way---with chips, salsa, chicken chimichanga & complimentary sopailla....
served with "Happy Birthday" in Spanish.
An April day of birthday blessing. (Psalm 118:24)

BABY TURNS 42

How can it be? Our #3!
Our baby girl, after boys 1 & 2--- turned 42 today!
Pre-ultrasound days, we assumed another boy & called her Benjamin for 81/2 months.... she came early as did both her brothers!
Unplanned---but God's gift! (Psalm 127:3)
During delivery, her daddy who had taught health classes at UM, fainted and slid down the delivery room wall.
My how time has flown by......and fashion has changed.
.Birthday treats have changed as well----from numeral-shaped Rice Krispie Treats to tonight's treat, a Plain Jane birthday cake from Muddy's!!

BTW, her Molly dress was an answer to her prayer. She told me she wanted a "Molly" dress. I hadn't a clue what she meant but I suggested she ask God. Lo and behold, a few days later,  Gwen Ennis showed up at our front door with, not one but two, dresses monogrammed with her name. Quite a memorable answer to Molly's prayer!

*Post time for this entry was the exact time of her birth---9:49 pm!

FAITHFUL FAREWELL

A final farewell full of faith. Such was the funeral of UK's Prince Philip.
From the hymns of truth to the scripture passages from John, Colossians and James, along with the Lord's prayer, all glory was given numerous times to the Lord Jesus Christ!
A funeral full of faith for many to hear. My prayer was just that, "Lord give them ears to hear gospel truth and understand that Jesus is the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me"
And all the faithful said, 'Amen" albeit behind their masks.

THANKFUL THURSDAY!

Full to overflowing this Thursday!
It's NOT Blurrsday!

I was discouraged by a meeting with a friend that was cancelled.
But God, had a different "Jer" plan. (Jeremiah 29:11)
A computer glitch showed no photos available for John Parker's book. A book that is due in his hands May  19. That was my "future hope." Sweet friend and tech guru, Lisa D., was available and came to help out. it ws not an easy fix but we chatted and caught up on family as she worked her wonders.  Voilé!!

Discouraged by nightly news lately, I've recorded it so I can skip redundant, day-old news and drug commercials. At the end there's  a boost, highlight or inspiration given. On thankful Thursdays I'm so grateful I can just fast forward to the good stuff!
Today's finding showed Freddie Freeman, a Braves player, giving a young boy a signed baseball as he had seen the young man's kindness in sharing with another child.
WOW---I loved that!
Freeman, number 5, has Luke 1:37 as part of his autograph. I don't know his story but I know God is a part of it.
I began my day seeing God's hand and I ended my day seeing God's hand, as a signed baseball reminded me that "with God, all things are possible."
No wonder it was a Thankful Thursday!

LEARNINGS FROM LITERATURE.....KIDDIE LIT, THAT IS

Reading aloud is important. I'm an advocate of that principle.
A child's receptive vocabulary is present much sooner than their expressive vocabulary and reading aloud is the way to increasing the breadth of that learning. Even as an adult I like to be a recipient of someone reading aloud---thus my Libby app  (audio from the public library) stays full!
Being a DiCamillo fan, (Because of Winn Dixie)  I picked this one up last week as I perused the kiddie lit shelves. The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.
Learnings from a china bunny---aka recollections from a rabbit on a day after day, season after season, year after year of a miraculous "love" journey.
  • Beauty makes no difference. It all started with a story of a princess who loved no one and cared nothing for love, even though there were many who loved her. (p. 29) Self-centered, maybe?
  • Is wanting to be with someone love? (p. 88)
  • "We are going nowhere. That my friend is the irony of constant movement, Bull, the hobo. (p.95)
  • He wanted to be with them. The rabbit wondered if that was love.
  • And so he listened. And in his listening his heart opened wide and then wider still. (p.103) Reminds me of James 1:19, (emphasis, mine.)
  • Love can include waiting. Loving can be painful.
  • Hugging feels good. (p.141)
Even a heart of the most breakable kind can learn to love, to lose and to love again is the learning listed on the book flap of the book.
A learning to take to heart from a kid's book.

GLANCE OR GAZE ON GOOD FRIDAY

Glancing or gazing----It's a choice.
I know because my journal jottings reminded me this morning!
My Utmost for His Highest Journal has been a go-to devotional for me since 2001!
It might not be neat, though I do use a lot of white-out these days, but it's always "on target" for me.
This morning, I spent a good deal of time gazing into God's word---that's my way to know Jesus Christ and Him crucified. (1 Corinthians 2:2) How else can one be aglow with the Spirit? (Romans 12:11, RSV)
Choosing to "Gaze on Him" is the best way to to begin Easter weekend on this "Good Friday" in Texas!
