EYE-CATCHING TRUTH!

Words have a way of catching my attention in the most convicting way!

My Word A Day calendar was a gift from daughter Molly. It was probably a way of helping me keep up with what day. Of course, she knows my lifelong fascination with words.  

Desultorily, certainly describes my actions these past few years. It's a course of wandering around and not remembering where or why!

Think metaphorically jumping from one activity or thought to another!

Random.

As frustrating as it is, it's life for me these days. 

Whether it's age-related or brain plaque related.

But God reminded me from 1 Thessalonians 5:18, "In everything give thanks."

"His" Word....is the word that counts!

SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS!

How does one serve the LORD with gladness?

This morning hubby and I listened to Cole Huffman's Gospel church July 5, 2026 podcast which espoused the value of serving the LORD......from Psalm 100. Just click to listen. You will be glad you did!

• Gladness---a watch word for serving the LORD.
• Gratitude leads to gladness.  
• Serving the LORD aligns with His will and purpose.
• Thanksgiving and praise are a dynamic duo.
• Thankfulness is a Password to God's WiFi.
• Singing puts one into deeper joy.
• Happiness (a positive, but variable, on-slaught of emotions) comes and goes but joy remains. 
• For the LORD is good. (v.5) with an enduring love and faithfulness to all generations.

Join me today in making a joyful noise unto the LORD.

COMPLAINTS BE GONE!

Camping out in the Psalms has been an ongoing pursuit for me. Relative/friend Bonnie, knows of my predilection for that book of the Bible and recently gave me a large print (YES!) devotional of 100 days of worship w/ word search in the Psalms.

Complaining is not a godly characteristic. Yet, God listens to us in our times of trouble just as He listened to David cry out to Him in Psalm 142!

How grateful I am to be able to vent my frustrations to Him knowing He can change my heart.

From grumpiness to gratitude!

Rid me of my upside down thought life as I give my thoughts to you, O Lord!

Thanks for using a simple writing activity to guide me in a new direction.

FRI-YAY

FRI-YAY---a trending word....or wordplay horribly overused these days. 

All our days should be "joy-filled" yay days! But....that's not always the way it is.

If not yay words, there are words to help the seniors keep focused, especially when days have a way of running together---unfocused. 

Yesterday's Thankful Thursday, for me, was one filled with pain. Lots of pain. Physical and emotional. I would have been dismayed had I not seen the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13) My attitude of gratitude was challenged to the nth degree. But God....in His love and mercy, once again used friends in the faith, who knew nothing of my forlornness, to intervene.

First, high school chum, Doola's "long" text, in response to my "long" text with thx for her "winter 💖" card. Doola can lift my spirit with her art and words in an Illinois' second! *

Next a card from "northern" friend, Pat sent some smiles my way.

Then came a call from my 93  yr. old vibrant friend, Janice. Chats with her are always a treat! Her wisdom keeps me grounded.

Today began as  "Frantic Friday until I was intentionally still! (Psalm 46:10).

Then it became Fri-Yay as I took a "hike" with 3 yr. old Jack, dug in the dirt with sticks, and I sang "Jesus Loves Jack" to him.

BTW, the poinsettia, a gift from "Master Gardener" neighbor Lynda, has graced my mornings at my kitchen window since December! 

TIMELY TUESDAY TO A THANKFUL THURSDAY

No time. No panic. No pressure. 

Having a "blended" cuppa this Thursday morn.

Daddy used to begin his day, "thanking the good Lord for everyday He gave Him."

That's not a bad idea as everyday is a gift from Him. 

I sip from my cuppa "graTEAtude" as a reminder.

Today is indeed God's gift.

Choose "Gratitude" as an expression of that and live it out for the rest of the day!

Dance Step "C"

Book: When Wallflowers Dance: Becoming a Woman of Righteous Confidence

There is….a time to dance….Ecclesiastes 3:1,4 (NKJV)

Last week's Dance Step "N" had each one “take notice” of God’s hand in all aspects of life. Once the "noticing" had one really looking to see the Lord's participation, there was cause to segue to the next step----"C" for celebration. 

Intentionality, in looking for God's hand often results in Glory Bumps.  The more we see His involvement in life, the more prevalent those "bumps" become.

Glory Bumps are similar to the goose pimply feeling that you get when you read a Hallmark card or hear a story that touches your heart. But “glory bumps” are more than that. Glory bumps are precipitated by an awareness of God’s involvement--a “God thing” a "God wink"---those incidences in our lives with a spiritual connection.  Glory bumps might result from seeing a miracle or a moving of God’s hand or just from experiencing the grand sense of LIFE that is beyond our comprehension. 

One's circumstances and situations might not change but an attitude adjustment can give a new perspective. Thanksgiving follows and a thankful heart is always a cause for celebration!

An "attitude of gratitude" helps to make even the seemingly "small" steps toward a life of abunDANCE seem worth celebrating! Dance Step "C," a dance of celebration, goes hand and hand with gratitude!

Finding great summation notes in the front of a "used copy from Amazon" of a study book, could cause "glory bumps" if one was prepping for a test!

"At-TEA-tude of Gra-TEA-tude

that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever! (Psalm 30:12, ESV)

Chairs were spared. Not just any chairs....but my quiet time chairs. "My" chair. "Thy" chair. Chairs for "me and Thee" as we "commune."

The neighbor's tree trunk was struck by lightening and split in half....crashing past our pine trees  Not hitting our house. Not causing our pine trees to hit our house.

In the scheme of last night's heavy winds and scary thunderstorms, it wasn't a biggie. I know that. Yet, I am grateful my chairs were spared.

If the circumstances had been different, I hope I would have still remembered to be grateful. 

Gratitude. An attitude that needs to permeate my heart.

Not just for now---but for forever.

Regardless of the circumstances, may I continually sip a cuppa gra-TEA-tude, until it becomes my at-TEA-tude of choice.

6/15/09 Without Complaint
That’s just another way of saying, “no whining” or no pity parties. It’s a choice---an attitude of gratitude. That phrase encapsulates Larry’s mother----our Mommar. Year after year I have watched her endure what ever comes her way without raising her voice or allowing negative words to flow forth. We all loved Grandaddy, Robert Thomas Liles, and he will be sorely missed but he was a corker---Mommar was the “saint without complaint.”
I wish that could be said about me. How ‘bout you? Will others see you as one who counted your blessings or as one who not only wallowed in self-pity and suffering but also gave a complete account of all the misery?
For three days I was hacking, sneezing, dripping mucus uncontrollably----because I couldn’t feel it coming out of my new nostril----my throat was raw, my body ached with fever, I was too tired to read and too miserable to sleep. See how easily I can blather and drivel about my own misery. FINALLY, I began to thank God that this was a cold, it wasn’t cancer. I could breathe through my mouth this time and that’s a big praise. Then, I was so grateful for the timing of this infirmity---after the surgeries, after hospital visits, after Grandaddy’s final days.
I have so much to be thankful for and so do you. Gratitude is seeing life as a gift.
Today’s meditation is from I Thessalonians 5:16-18. I was only going to include verse 18 and then I saw how they all tie together. In order to rejoice, there’s going to have to be some focused prayer and gratitude. Prayer holds the two together---with prayer we can be thankful, when we’re thankful we can praise easily and that increases our prayers which results in an overflowing of joy. That’s the way I see it. Let me know what you see….because tomorrow I’m going to start meddlin’ about having a grateful spirit.
