CHOOSE: ACTION

CHOOSE: Action Verbs might have been a better title choice.

Trust is a noun. Trust is also an action verb when one chooses to "trust" God.

Trust God whether you "feel" like it or not. It's an action of the will.

Like choosing to be faithful, choosing to trust, especially in the hard places of suffering is an internal action. It's a first step. A step that starts in the mind.

When one is hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed but not despairing, not feeling abandoned in the midst of persecution, or  struck down, but still upright and functioning, those folks have chosen to take action and choose to trust. (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)

That first step can lead to courage in action. A heart strengthening. Hope. (Psalm 31:24) As The Message states, "Expect God to get there soon."

Courage, strength, hope---all results of one action verb----trust. 

Choose to trust Him, knowing "soon" is the adverb of His timing.

Time Compulsive

"TIME COMPULSIVE"---it's what I am---in all caps! 

Sweet church friend, Sally K's, mom used to tell her that she had no concept of time. That sounds like a luxury to me. No one would ever describe me in those terms. 

My family members have a variety of different descriptive words for my disorder----pretty "spot on" in a fun way. 

Clocks adorn every room. My favorite fashion accessory is a watch with large numbers and my favorite home decor is my "Pap's" (Adams) pocket watch which I had mounted. 

I even dubbed myself time compulsive in 2 blogs from earlier years---Journal Jottings in 2/21/09 and Time Compulsion...5/18/10. You'd think I'd learn that this "worrying habit" gets me nowhere fast. There is no time redemption in time compulsion, especially as one ages. It just takes longer to do less, not to mention how fast the years passing.

In God's time economy, there's always time for all that he requires. "Do Justice, love kindness and walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8) Even when I have too much "on my plate," the Lord has a way of redeeming my time when I spend time with Him first. The busyness gives way to a God-paced life.  For me, it seems that much more is accomplished for His glory when I "go" His pace. I can leave the tension and stress of my own frenzy in the dust.

Of course, regardless of my "compusivi-TEA," there's always time for a cuppa tea in my day!

Time Concept

11/7/12 Sweet "faith friend" Sally Klinke told me that as a young person her mom was always telling her that she had NO concept of time. I, on the other hand, have been told by my family members that I am time compulsive. We are both "working" on these areas.

In recent years it seems that all women are driven one way or another by time---living (or struggling) by another's idea of perfect timing, dealing with amounts of time, too much time taken up by "urgencies of work or needs of others, too little time for all the world says we SHOULD accomplish and much too  little time available for relationships with family and friends. And oh yea----did I mention God!

God's "time economy" is different from ours. There is always enough time to accomplish all that He requires---time allotted for His purposes.

I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness,
    and you will harvest a crop of love.
Plow up the hard ground of your hearts,
    for now is the time to seek the Lord,
that he may come
    and shower righteousness upon you.’ (Hosea 10:12, NLB)

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added (given) unto you. (Matthew 6:33)

All things. Even time. Previous verses in that chapter remind us that it's the Lord who grants our life span (time). 

This week within the time which He granted me, I found that seeking Him first (before the onslaught of    my virtually impossible schedule) resulted in an amazing conclusion. Time redemption. It wasn't why I sought Him, but God....gave it to me anyway.

A new concept of time. Time Redemption. It's His to give and He does, when we seek him FIRST!
