HEAVENLY EQUATION: 1+1=1

There is nothing quite like a family wedding! 

Kinship by blood joined with kinship through the Spirit of Christ. 

The simplicity of a service that glorifies and honors the Lord and even includes the sacrament of communion for the couple is a glory to behold.

Note the "cup and the bread" (right) a waiting the couple. 

As the Pastor said, "In the heavenly equation," marriage is when 2 people come together in the covenant relationship of 1, as man leaves father and mother and cleaves to his wife. (Genesis 2:24)

And when this stand is gladly taken, "Beneath the Cross of Jesus, " it is even sweeter! 

Hooray! Hooray! Mr. and Mrs. Johnson are on their way----from a wedding ceremony which glorified God, to a life of  committed faithfulness in marriage which will do the same.

 From a wedding supper table for 2, where little time was given by the hordes of well-wishers...

to a luscious trio of cakes where again "let them eat cake" was for others, with just a single bite for them.

As the celebration continued, a rainbow appeared....another covenant reminder. 

To me, that rainbow was a "God wink" for Robbie and Bjorn.

A perfect ending to a perfect day.....

.......and a perfect beginning for a life of 1+1 =2!

Sacred ceremonies. Vows before God and man. 
Then the dancing begins!
Tonight's wedding dance of Michael and Megan began with dancing down the aisle as the recessional music was played for these newlyweds----celebrating their new life together.

Dancing continued at the Old Natchez Country Club for all of us.
For them, the beauty of this new season in their lives is that from this time forth there is a new dance---regardless of the "music" life throws their way, that they will dance it together, led by the Lord.
How easy it is to choose to celebrate with Megan and Michael Liles.

Propitious Ma-TEA-ri-mony

Marriage should be honored by all, (Hebrews 13:4, NLT)

Some marriages seem to be made in heaven---though none of that is likely to be totally determined on the wedding day. Yet, tonight's wedding of Emily and Nate certainly came close. A God-honoring ceremony. A great beginning. Propitious---heaven-sent and indicating a good chance of success.

Both graduates of Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Both in professions of service as physician assistants in the medical field. Bride at UTMG and Groom at St. Jude. But more importantly, both are believers. Equally yoked.

The bride, whom I and others had prayed for even before her birth, the groom a young man taking his vows, as unto the Lord, turned facing the world as Pastor Taylor introduced the "you and you who tonight became y'all."

Then..... drove away in a hidden surprise....a 1932 Ford Victoria, restored by the groom's dad....a young couple beginning a life lived as "unto the Lord" in a fun vintage car, no less!

Men see not the bright light which is in the clouds. (Job 37:21, KJV)

Life is full of clouds. From our earthly perspective, these clouds can seem dark, foreboding even. But God....has a different perspective. He sees from above. Just as my grandson and I saw the reflective light in the mist a few days ago, in the double rainbow, God can always see the shining bright reflective light. It's a heavenly perspective.

Today is Suzanna and Nathan's wedding day. It's raining. The hope had been for clear skies. As their preparations continue for their outdoor reception, may I continue to pray for the wedding, (regardless of the raindrops) the reception (regardless of the weather temps) and the marriage (regardless of the clouds that they will face) to glorify Thee.

May daughter, Molly, from the crane high above the reception, capture all of this in the pictures. A photo journey of a true celebration of two, equally-yoked young people, as they begin their "forever" journey as man and wife. 

May they remember the "bright light" who is behind these clouds. These moving clouds. May they see His hand in their lives and rejoice because of who He is....a trustworthy God who loves them. 

May the Lord serve them a cuppa visibili-TEA of His love on this their wedding day, regardless of the weather!

DESTINATION: WEDDING

6/2/10 Will be off-line for the next few days because we’re going to celebrate Elizabeth and Michael’s wedding in Florida. I love everything about family weddings---the newness of love, the family ties, the flowers, the music, (it always makes me cry) the “charge” from the preacher (esp. when he is my son) the excitement and hope for the future of the bride and groom and of course, the cake!! I do love wedding cake. And though I love chocolate, it’s not the groom’s cake I gravitate toward---it’s the white on white bride’s cake with lots of icing.

So grateful that Elizabeth and Michael have chosen to put the Lord at the center of their marriage. He is that all important strand in the cord of their relationship.
