FAMILY TIES!

Family Ties!
What ties a family together? Special memories. Snafus, Nicknames.
Recently, hubby's nickname had me photographing a license plate of a said nickname. The owner of the car hollered from across the parking lot, "WHAT do you think you are doing?"
My response, "Is this your car?"
His, "It most certainly is!"
So....I tried to explain the family tie. His face softened and he gave me carte blanche permission. He could because He owned the company that bore those initials. PHEW!!!
Our Family Tie story!
Caller ID identifies callers on everyone's cell phones. Scam might appear if caller is not in your contacts.
So...we put all our grands in our contacts list. That way when one calls my hubby, he always knows to answer repeating the letters P P INC. Im sure they are smiling on the other end knowing it's PopPop who is answering the call. Following PPINC, he sometimes adds, "How can I help you." The conversation easily leads into laughter /giggles and ways he can help!
I was thankful for the gentleman's response on Thankful Thursday as I shared with grands.

POSITIVE PANDEMIC PLANS--KEEP PRAYING!

3/21~and so it begins---life as we've never known it before. As the weeks go on....
GOOGLE reminds us to "Keep Washing Our Hands". 20 seconds!!!
3/22~Grace for theMoment~Pray for all people, asking God for what they need and being thankful to Him  (1 Timothy2:1) ....starving children, hurting people, people in cancer wards & in assisted living...look beyond the darkness, so as not to miss the answered prayers.

4/3~ Trust in the Lord with all your heart and stay home to stay safe. Is that a mixed message. I don't think so. I see it as a way of showing respect for others. Keep reading God's word.
5/5~Mask-up Memphis Keep wearing a mask to show respect for others!
Fear not for I am with you; (even behind your mask)
Be not dismayed, for I am your God. (Isaiah 41:10) Keep trusting God.

People party as May ends and Covid-19 related deaths in our nation spike.................
6/15~ Keep watching out for others by respecting their lives with clean hands, a well fitting mask and social distancing. Death has a human face.
7/4~We too celebrated Independence Day from our patio/porch. in unity---apart, together. (Psalm 133:1)
.....and now we will enter August with an even greater resolve to keep praying!

CHOOSE: UNITY

The language doesn't matter----the truth is the same.
And all God's people said, A-MEN!!!

FELLOWSHIP SUNDAY!!

For most believers, every Sunday is a fellowship Sunday of sorts. Once or twice a year, our church gets together for BBQ, games and other activities on the grounds. Officially we "dub" this our "fellowship" Sunday, somewhat akin to dinner on the grounds of times gone by.
But, todays went beyond that! As I looked out over the sanctuary there was a sea of green!! Green in every spectrum. Even one of the young dads dedicating his infant son today wore green tennis shoes. Even Nancy, sweet friend in the faith, who was visiting with us today wore green as well!

Why green? One of the youngsters in our church is battling cancer, and as in similar cases, our congregation has stepped up to the plate! Unbeknownst to his parents, many in our "body" wore "Green for Griffin" whose young body has been invaded by leukemia. It was our way of saying to Griffin's family, We Got Your Back!" We're on your team!
So many scriptures whirred in my mind as we all prayed for this young man and his family. We are family---his family.
  • So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. (Galatians 6:10)
  • Continue steadfastly in prayer,  (Colossians 4:12)
  • ....pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. (James 5:16)
  • Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. (1 Corinthians 5:11)
  • How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity! (Psalm 133:1)
  • May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, (Romans 15:5)
  • Let brotherly love continue. (Hebrews 13:1)
Unity Prevailed----baby dedications, responsive readings of scripture, spontaneous baptisms, prayers and WEARING GREEN---lots of it!

One in the Spirit----that's what we celebrated this "Fellowship Sunday!

Sweet Charlotte sharing her Scottish recipe oat cakes---which I love.
Allison from Ottawa read John 4:21-24,  our morning scripture, from 2 languages, no less?

Brotherhood

Naysayers asked....
You're going to do what? Travel for over 2 weeks by car? Share a room as you go? 4 adults with 1 bathroom? Do you think you'll still be speaking when you return home?
We did it all---it was great!
We drove and ate our way across America. Loading and unloading our Toyoto 4 Runner many times was a full time job for our men!
The trek included spectacular and diverse scenery, coupled with unbelievable discoveries and mixed with lots of fun----even in the midst of snow in 3 states along with unseasonable low temps in all, a tornado in 1, a traffic jam in San Francisco and a blow out in South Dakota.
We were not only speaking, we were still laughing!!!
For Buddy and Charlotte, it was 17 states in 17 days---for us just 16, as we started our jaunt in TN and returned with 5,890 miles logged on our odometer.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers (and sisters) to dwell together in unity! (Psalm 133:1)

SABBATH SNAPSHOTS: TEXAS SUNSHINE

12/1/13 A week with family....what a blessing. Even more fun for the little kids (and the big kids, as well) when the sun came out. Celebration Park was a celebration of young cousins and older siblings playing together.

Hones-TEA

6/19/13 Rummaging through a friend's "fridge" I found a "tea" that I had never seen before. Though I was taken back by this discovery, I loved seeing one more affirmation from the Lord. He continues to teach me in such creative ways---even through word play on "tea."

Our summer refreshment group, dubbed "simplici-TEA," has been doing a lot of that.  Fellowship has occurred in an unusual way as we have been seeking clari-TEA from God's word on living a life of simplicity and devotion to Christ. (2 Corinthinas 11:3). It has become for me a "safe" group. A group which allows its members to be honest with each other. Uni-TEA has resulted in honesTEA!
How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity! (Psalm 133:1)
For those "accepting" group members, the links below are for the 2 forms I neglected to pass out last night. Hopefully, 6/18 lecture notes will be added by Friday.

CELEBRATE LIFE....a younger version

8/28/12 Last night’s celebration with a “younger” friend on her BIG 6-0 birthday was quite a contrast to Saturday’s "101 year" celebration. Both were fun---just different. Saturday’s decorations were elegant, floral and understated with no mention of years. Yesterday’s were full of color and “60” everywhere.

The Saturday group most in their 9thdecade, arrived dressed to the nines, with  no walkers, one hidden knee brace and only one cane, which was quickly put aside---with youthful hopefulness. Though aging was at the forefront of conversation for the Monday group the guests ranged in age from 30 something to 70+. That's  the generation span of friendships of the honoree, who said, “That way I make sure there is still someone around to attend my funeral!”
Walker’s adorned the entry at the more recent event and even offered valet parking for the elderly. Attire for the group, at the request of the honoree, was to be of an “elderly fashion.” Not to dress “old & frumpy” were the dictates of the hostesses. So, said honoree was the only one to arrive clad with her 96 yr old mom’s shoes with rolled down house, bed-head hair and tissues everywhere----you get the idea. At least, she left her mom’s hearing aids in her purse. (BTW, two of her “kind” friends tried to dress according to the birthday girl’s rules---that would be Shirley and Lou)
Song and dance captured the essence of Crickett.
Yet, the passing of 60 years of life was still celebrated with skits and pranks, both recent and past. Bugs and roaches in beds, short sheeting, crickets in curtains and inappropriate use of toilet paper. (LOL) That’s laugh out loud for you elderly readers. LOTS of laughter was definitely part of this life celebration. (Psalm 133:1)

It’s said that laughter is good for the soul---well, so is Crickett.
Birthday, dear friend “zee Crickeeet”---only 5 more years ‘til Medicare.
Can't wait to see what your "innocent friends", Julie and Sandra cook up for that life celebration!
