STEADFAST!

I love my steadfast bookmark!
Not only for its  beauty and "steadfast reference" to its biblical context of being firm, unwavering and resolute in purpose, but for me it's the verse included that speaks to my heart.

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NASB95)--Therefore, my beloved brethren be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your work is not in vain in the Lord.

The verse is so memorable to me because it was given to me in in 1997 in a gymnasium in Budapest, Hungary. Cots were spread out for us to sleep on until there until we could leave to travel to Kővágóörs, a village of 900 inhabitants. We would be at Cornerstone House, near Lake Balafon to teach English as a second language.
Wide open showers were  provided in the gym but not a single shower curtain. Not to worry..... as a "just in case" gal I had packed a shower curtain. Plus, friend Pam had sent a large jar of peanut butter with me & I became everyone's friend because I had American peanut butter

A gentlemen helping us unload asked if this was a first time mission trip on a foreign field for anyone.  I raised my hand. That's when he gave me the note with the verse to encourage me to "keep on keeping on" in the work of the Lord!

That verse continues to speak to my heart.

FRIDAY FOCUS: A REFOCUS !!!

Anyone having trouble with focus?
Is it a physical condition? Mind? Spiritual? All the above?!

Whatever the reason, I'm sill dealing with it!
Living without focus is like living in a gray world! Think cataract surgery needed.
I know where to go....God's Word. Embarrassingly enough, while I'm there I can easily begin planning supper or lack there of said plan. ARGGG!

Focus? Surely focus + focus + focus = REFOCUS

Growing weary outwardly this past week with my "distracted" mind malady, I asked Him to renew me inwardly day by day....with a spiritual refocus.
A focus of hope-filled trust (Romans 15:13) and firmness of stance. (1 Corinthians 15:58)
It was not a "one and done" attempt.

However, this acceptance of the need to refocus calmed my heart and filled me with hope.

???????

What does one do with a heavy heart????
I know.......but I'm still struggling.
Yesterday, I couldn't even write. Praying God will use this sadness and dark night of my soul---not for me as much as for others in transition.
But God.....in His love and mercy, has me hear my hubby's voice reading Paul David Tripp's words, "Facing disappointment and failure?" (New Morning Mercies, March 18) The entire entry captured the brokenness I was feeling, and the unrealistic expectations I live with. From Romans 8 he uses Paul's descriptor's to add weight to said brokenness; subjected to futility (v. 20), bondage to decay (v. 22) greater grace reminds one of an eternity yet to come.
......but God's grace is greater than you could ever have imagined it would be. Biblical faith lives at the intersection of shocking honesty and glorious hope. (NMM, 3/18)
???? diminish because the answer of grace is once again closing in on my wounded heart!
