ANNIVERSARY TURNING POINT!

Today is the first day of autumn. A turning point in the autumn equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. It arrives at 2:19 EST in our town. I'm ready.........

The leaves of the dogwoods on our side of the  mountain are starting to turn. Hopefully, a refreshing "nip in the air" will come soon!
Today, for us, is the first anniversary of our residency in North Carolina.
Admittedly, it has not been an easy turning point for me. But God in His love and mercy has been with me in every distractible moment.
Acts 17:26: has been my reminder......God has determined allotted periods and the boundaries of (our) dwelling place.

We are here, in this very location, for a reason.
His reason!
A grace place of sorts.

May others see Christ in us, the hope of glory. (Colossians 1:27).....as
In Him we live and move and have our being. (Acts 17:28a)

A true turning point regardless of where we live or how distractible my mind has become.

FLIP-FLOP MENTALITY

Sister-in-law Charlotte is a flip flop fiend! Her closets back me up on this! I probably would be as well, if I had "pretty toes" like she has!
My only flipflop leanings are in my "distractible mind." It is difficult for me to focus and it seems to be getting worse with each new year.
How does one undo forgetfulness as they age? Recall failure flusters without allowing forgetfulness to push out peace?

Minds are steadfast, keeping peace of thoughts when they trust in YAH the LORD......Isaiah 26:3
Romans 12:2 reminds us (me) to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
Colossians 3:2 says, "Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things."
As Paul says in Philippians 2:1-5, be mindful and live with an awareness of the present. On a straight path. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Steadfast. Transformed. Renewed. Mindset. Mindful.

Have the mind of Christ.

Put the "Flip-Flop" mind back in the closet where it belongs!

RABBIT HOLES!

I live in "rabbit holes"............or at least, I'm a frequent visitor.
Positive or negative experiences---both are distractions for me. The last  week, matters seem to have gotten worse after a great relaxing 4 days with family.
Focus seemed "ungraspable."
DISTRACTION in all caps!

CONFUSION clatters.
THOUGHTS scatter.
May these distractions from the world not keep me from hearing the voice of God!

I need soul shepherding. God's word says He will "counsel me with His loving eye on me." (Psalm 32:8) Maybe this time, I need to spend less time seeking additional clarity and lean in and trust Him on what I already know.
He is my God. He will always be with me. He loves me even when I am distractible.

Today, may I take one faith step at a time and watch out for rabbit holes of distraction.

Mindless in the Mountains

12/4/09 Is it the altitude? Is it age? Is it MAC muddled mind? Why can I not hold on to thoughts? My mind is like….. a sieve? ……a piece of diaphanous fabric. Words flutter in but don’t stay long enough for me to weave them into a coherent thought---much less express it. Having a conversation with me can be a labor of love. Is that why so many are turning away or just tuning me out?

What attribute of God do I need to focus on for help in this area. I don’t care if it starts with Z, I’ll jump right to it---forget my obsession with ABC order. How else do I stop these whirlpools of words that I can’t quite qrip tightly enough or hold long enough in my grasp in order to have a complete thought?

Yesterday’s Jesus Calling’s first sentence caught my attention. “Do not be surprised by the fiery attacks on your mind…………Don’t let discouragement set in……call upon My name……My name, properly used, has unlimited Power.” Wow!

Another “D” word---He is my Defender---my only defense in the battle for my mind
