Stiff-necked---Who me??

Stiff-necked, more than an idiom.
With 8 pages of definitions, notes and Bible verses, I have to ask myself, "Is this a lesson for me, Lord?" Am I stiff-necked?
Physically, it's a given. Even as I'm typing now, I have a heat wrap on my neck.
What I don't want to be is....a spiritual stiff-neck.
Hopefully, my prayer warrior friends will intercede with prayers for grace at the first glimmer of the malady in my life---much like what Moses did for the Israelites.

Knowing God: think on that

 1/14/12 This past week, Ephesian 3:19 my choice verse for meditation this year had me considering "know the love of Christ" and "filled up to all the fulness of God"
Friend & prayer warrior, Wynellen prayed it for me though she went back to verse 17 which reminded me of "being rooted and grounded in love."
and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (NIV)
To me knowing God begins in that love----to know that love fills me with all the fulness of God. These past weeks I have desired such prayers as I desperately needed to fully know His love. To know Him better. To experience the joy of knowing Him."There is no greater joy" and yet, I was struggling in the "joy" category. Circumstances, both physical and emotional. were weighing me down. To those closest to me, my life was NOT showing the great value of knowing Him.

I know this because as the pastor quoted Jim Elliot, I felt God tugging at my heart strings.


"Lord, make my way prosperous not that I achieve high station, but that my life be an exhibit to the value of knowing God.” (Jim Elliot, missionary)

That's my prayer. "Lord, may my life exhibit the incomparable value of knowing You!"

Packing Up


7/8/11 Walking out the door. Heading to Kentucky. Headed home, as I have known it, for the last time. There will no longer be an Adams resident at 2211 or 2422. I'm meeting family to "pack up" Daddy's things and all the household possessions that will be his no more. That makes me sad. One more step in the grieving and wrapping up of a life of a sweet daddy.

I'm packing my Houston High "Dotsy" quilt to take with me----the one with all the prayers. The one that offered solace for me all those months in Texas. The quilt and the continuing prayers of friends. I'm going to need them both.

Bitty Blog

5/27/09,,,,an itty, bitty Blog----
This will be more like blog bullets as I update a little. Actually, the only coherent time I had today when I could blog, I had no access----our electricity was out for over 2 hours. Not good when a computer needs “juice.”
  • • Grandaddy taken back to ICU at 4:30 a.m.
  • • Playing catch up at work continued but minimal stress b/c Angie has covered for me for months.
  • • Larry and son, Buddy, and grandson, Noah on a long anticipated “heritage” trip
  • • My gracious principal allowed me to use my lunch time to spend the 12-1:00 ICU visiting time w/ Grandaddy.
  • • Long nap brought some refreshment to a depleted body---no electricity took away all the distractions from phone to computer.
  • • Michele, my MAC survivor friend from Germany, arrives in North America. The possibility that we might meet this side of heaven thrills my heart.
  • • Received e-mail from friend,Shirley, expressing well the privilege of prayer.
I know many of you have your own griefs and sorrows and pains and difficult situations going on and I am remembering to lift you up too! Nothing encourages me to remember to pray for others than when I have pressing prayer needs of my own!”
  • • Bernie’s phone message---Hebrews 5:14, “But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.” (NASB) THOTS---solid food=God’s word and practice = constant use/exercise of the truth—need to practice! Practice!! Practice!!!

  • • Phone call from Pickwick----the Texans and Larry saying, “Nite, I love you.”
