I like light streaming in through my windows, so I open the shutters. I choose doors with glass instead of solid doors. I pull blinds and shades all the way up.
I have loved the openness of our neighborhood for the past 36 years---mostly fenceless. Kids were not hemmed in and ball fields & mini golf cart routes could stretch through four backyards,
But in the past three months, fences have gone up. Confinement---no longer our open space
Now, hubby is closing in our carport. I understand his decision. Safety. Since our break-in we have both felt "uneasy," to say the least. But as I've watched the walls go up, I've lost the light and view from my kitchen sink. It seems to have taken the breath right out of me.
But God......reminds me of the only true security I have. The One who is the Light. A Light that can never be taken from me. For that, I am eternally grateful.
Like you, Dotsy, I love the light, and can feel "down" withtout it. The other day in our prayer cell we meditated Psalm 27. "The LORD is my light..." What a treasure! No walls, fences nor other obstruction can block his light from shining into the darkness as I look up to Him. Isn't it amazing too that the light always overpowers the darkness,
ReplyDelete2 Samuel 22:29
O Lord, you are my lamp. The Lord lights up my darkness.
Psalm 18:28
You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness.
John 1:5
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
John 8:12
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
Praise God for his Light!
WOW---reading your comment made my day!! Psalm 27 is one of my very favorites and I'm going now to look up 2 Samuel 22:29.
