Gift Extraordinaire

I know there is probably no such thing as a "perfect" gift but for needed a key-chain, "map lovin' granny" who loves her kids and grands where ever they are----this one is pretty close!!
A key ring map that shows all the places closest to my heart---New York---Lucy, Tennessee---Owen,
Texas---Nathan, Noah, Caleb, John Parker and Andrew. (Proverbs 17:6)

Thanks Day----this is truly a gift extraordinaire. A gift that touches my heart!

Gift Giving 101

Nothing warms a mother or grandmother's heart like a homemade/handmade gift---especially one that can be used daily. Just seeing it warms the heart of the recipient---that would be me!!
 Knitted warmth---of heart and yarn.
A Lucy plate, similar to one I still have of her Daddy's...given with warm and sticky "hot chocolate kisses!" The best kind!
Created and given by son and signed by 5 little Texans....and the back is labeled "cuppa." Filled today with English Breakfast tea and sipped alongside a passel of boys.

All these gifts keep on giving----giving warmth for the neck, the tummy and the soul!

WHAT A GIFT!

12/14/13 A REAL Gift. A Gift of Love. A Labor of Love.
A gift from the heart of the Lord through the heart of the giver.
Each year the format provides "light," as well as "encouragement," through 12 Days of Christmas.
This year, like all years, the theme is unique. This year's topic is especially apropos because giver and receiver have prayed and weathered many storms together understanding that storms filtered through His hand can make us stronger.
Gems Gleaned thus far:
  • Weather Words used metaphorically in scripture can give insight and new perspective.
  • Stormy circumstances are inevitable.
  • The Lord is in the storm----in Psalm 29 His name is given directly 18 times.
  • It is incorrect to assume that storm/suffering occurs because it's beyond God's control.
  • In storms of life, Jesus is our "safe room."
A "peek" ahead found this shining jewel. "Better to go through the storm with the Lord than to have smooth sailing without Him. (ODB. Fisher, 5/25/13)
What a gift, indeed!

SABBATH SNAPSHOTS: People who make a difference

4/22/12 In our lives we have family members, friends, neighbors, even service industry folks who make a difference. That’s what I saw as I looked through my photos from this week. These plants reminded me of such people. I am thankful for each in my life.

Bloom from my “heritage” snowball bush---originally from my grandmother, Mama’s, childhood home in Hampton Station KY. She took a cutting with her when she married Robert Davenport (my Dang-Dang) and moved to Clarksville, TN. Mama was my spiritual mentor.

A Magnolia tree given by Nancy R., a former Longreen neighbor, in memory of that same grandmother. A real essence of sweetness comes from her memory tree, just as pure sweetness emanated from the very core of her being

A snapshot from my Wednesday “walkabout” with long time friend and walking encourager, Ellen. We walked in my “hood” this week.

Honeysuckle where I park for my “local” library---there the librarians bless my heart with their recommendations of “good reads” and big smiles. The distinct smell of the honeysuckle had childhood love of libraries and other memories flooding my mind.

Dear friend Ann’s, son Brad, (in sunglasses) has always been a generous supporter of the university. I know how pleased she is with his continued generosity in Memphis-- from education, health, and church to the arts.

A single dogwood bloom on the tree outside the track area beside hubby’s office at the university—a man who puts up with me. Enough said.

SABBATH SNAPSHOTS: GIFTS:... ---ADDENDUM

A gift that can keep on giving warmth----but first it has to be given. Daughter Molly assumes she should receive her cowl by Christmas 2014.
